“Most dispensaries are not going to let someone in who doesn’t have some sort of physical connection with California,” said Hallinan."

Um this has been known for a while. All you need is a Cali ID and then your doctors Rec. They don't care about residency and never had, you just need to have a Cali ID. These out of state yards get mad when they can't use their out of state ID

Don't you have to be a resident of Cali to get a "Cali ID"?

Nope, just an address in California to mail it to. I believe they also require 2 forms of identification when getting it. I got mine in college while still maintaining residency in another state.

You need your social security for an ID, if im correct. So you either need to be in process of fixing your residency or be a resident.

Nope. No residency required. Did this for 5 years while attending college. Just get a California ID, and then you are good to go get your rec

Yes, and they go hand in hand in most (but not all) cases.
Most out of staters are not looking to grow, they are just looking to be able to walk into a dispensary like everyone else. The residency thing applies to living in that same county, so you could still be a Cali resident and not be able to grow of you haven't established residency in that county

Getting a california ID card has never been a challenge. Further I'll go ahead and add that i just renew get lazy and get a new rec and have used many of the popular places around los angeles and have used my passport with another state listed on it as ID for my Rec.

The system is sloppy and people dont care about

I've used non california issued IDs inside clubs as well. No need to drop names but they are pretty much the popular ones around LA. It's not just flashing a pretty smile, it's just the overall attitude towards california joke laws. When your family flies out here and they always get a REC as sovereign of their trip the industry is as silly as disney.

AS far as residency required to grow, no one is california is holding a gun to your head telling you to report your plant counts or random inspections. Same random tourist with his 40 dollar venice beach """"Doctors rec""""" cn buys as much weed and clones as they want and leave the state. Only thing stopping them is their own ethics ruler.

In central L.A. there used to be a few spots that would take out of state ID as long as you had an electric bill or other P.O.R. as shops got hit more and more stopped.

I've seen a handful of clinics take out of state ID.
I'll bet most of those clinics don't have a license to operate either... Prop D limited LA to only 135 shops, while there is still about 1000 operating. So yea it's fair to say the majority of shops in LA have a total disregard for any rules. Just because your favorite clinic will do it does not make it legal.

I'd like to come out around the Emerald Cup, hit it, and hang around for a few extra days. Out of state med patient but need a cali id and rec. Not worried about the cost but from the states .gov site it looks like some hoops to jump through. Can I get a po box and be good?
