The Inaugural concert

Did anyone see the inaugural concert, held on the steps of the Lincoln memorial? It brought tears to my eyes. I cried like a baby. That's the first time in a long time I've felt good about my country, America the beautiful. When U-2 sang the the song just for America, I wept like a little girl. I hope this positive imagery remains around for a long time. I'll bet even some of you hard core righties would have been moved. It wasn't partisan at all. It was about Americans coming together to make this country better

Yep, and I felt emotional about it too. I'm just a white guy but I felt so overwhelmingly happy for how blacks and everyone else are really finally starting to feel things going their way, and to see everyone there happy with smiles on their faces regardless of politics or race etc... Practically a miracle and the timing with respect to Dr King's speach, just feels like it's all coming together.

And yes, at 40 years old this is the very first time I actually felt proud of our country and that the patriotic songs they were singing didn't sound like hollow meaningless crap like it always has before for me.

U-2? aren't they from ireland? =/
Yes they are. They sang a song about how great America could be that brought tears to my eyes. The whole world is stoked about Obama. This may be the beginning of something good, I certainly hope so, for that is all we have left is hope.

It is being replayed all the time by HBO, they are the only ones with rights to the performances.

It will end up on youtube soon, if it's not already.

While hundreds of thousands of Americans spent hours in the cold to enjoy the "We Are One" inaugural concert Sunday at the Lincoln Memorial, a clutch of Obama's top donors could watch from a heated tent near the performers, courtesy of the president-elect's Inaugural Committee.

Visitors who hadn't raised hundreds of thousands of dollars couldn't get closer to the performance. "Excuse me! You got tickets? If you don't have tickets, you have to go to 'General Population,'" shouted a guard at an entrance near the memorial, gesturing with her arms to turn around and head back away from the show.

The concert was supposed to be part of "the people's party," said Shawn Paterniti, who had come with his wife Mia from Columbia, Md., to see the show. "But still, you have the VIPs who want their front-row seats. So I guess they get their tickets no one knows about," he said, as he and his wife headed to join the "general population," far away from the performances.

"It seems odd to have a VIP section for a concert about unity," quipped the local blog DCist.com. The blogger, Kriston Capps, suggested a new name for the event: "We Are One, but Some Are More One Than Others."

The biggest group of donors were none other than the recently bailed-out Wall Street executives and employees.
“The finance sector is well represented, despite its recent troubles,” Ritsch said. “Those who worked in finance still managed to pull together nearly $7 million for the inauguration.”
The donors will get some of the best seats in the house for the inauguration, as well as admittance to some of the best balls and other events.
“I don’t think that they’re going to get a whole lot of face time with the new president himself,” Ritsch said, “but they are certainly establishing themselves from day one as his biggest financial supporters. And if there’s something they need or to tell him down the road, they will have an easier time doing that than everyone else.”
