My fellow citizens (especially the one's I seem to be continuously arguing with.)
I ask you only this. Before you go to the polls, and cast your votes. Really think about the candidates. Think about the values they seem to espouse, think about the values they would bring to the presidency.
I'm not going to argue that one set of values is better, or not better. I am sure that the candidates have their own opinions, and have their own beliefs.
But, are their beliefs truly ours?
Do their beliefs really espouse what we believe?
Do they show the tolerance of speech that we have always been told is necessary in a just and free society?
Do they show the compassion that we expect from our fellow man?
Do they consistently display the kind of morals that we would want to see in office?
What about their friends, and associates? Would we want to hang out with them, or their friends?
It is often said that you can judge a person by their friends.
Do their friends espouse the idea that everyone is created equally, that has been the key tenant of our nation since it was first founded? (Even if it was nearly 90 years before slavery would be abolished.)
If their friends, and their associates do not espouse the ideals of the nation, how can we trust these politicians?
To neglect the effect your friends have on your behavior is to ignore the truth. Your friends have a great effect on your attitudes, and your philosophy. Just as your parents, and your teachers have an effect on your attitudes.
I want everyone to think about what they would want for themselves. Not for other people, but for themselves.
What kind of person would you want in the presidency?
What kind of policies would you see as benefiting you for president?
I want everyone to really think about the history of our nation, and really think about what ideology has been successful, and what ideology has consistently failed.
Not to provide for all members of society, no ideology will ever do that.
Socialism, Capitalism, Communism, Theologism, Technocracy, no society will ever achieve that "perfect" society. It is Impossible. Perfection is not attainable, because there is always room for improvement.
Pure socialism was tried in Russia and it failed to provide needed goods and services.
Pure capitalism only existed from 1776 - 1913/1914.
Socialist Capitalism has ran our country from 1933 - now, and still runs our country (witness the bail outs, and the massive redistribution of wealthy that is going to take place under the bail out packages)
Really think about how you would see your tax dollars spent (or if you would want them to be spent at all.)
Step outside of all the Media BS and all the Myths about no 3rd party candidate having a chance to win.
Don't vote for the person that is the most eloquent. I'm sure the Wall Street bankers were pretty Eloquent too, and we saw what kind of people they were.
Don't vote for the person that everyone else is screaming for.
Really examine what they are saying, and really think about the policies, and then think about the effects of those policies.
Think about the effects that more credits will have on people with families, but think of how people that are single, or are unmarried are not going to benefit.
Think about the effects of the attempts to stabilize housing prices by bailing out people that are in danger of defaulting, and think about the fairness of those policies to people who were renting.
Think about the housing prices, and really ask yourselves, is this really "affordable" housing?
Think about the state of our society, and think about what paths lead to its present condition.
Think about what you would like to achieve, and then think about the effects the policies that candidates are espousing would have on those goals.
Think about your dreams, and your hopes, and ask yourself what policies are going to bring those closer to you, and what are going to push them further away.
Think about, not what you can do for your country, or your country can do for you, or any one else. Think about what you can do for yourself, and how the policies are going to effect that.
Think beyond the debates, and the media campaigns, and really, really ask yourself, "What is best for the country? Who is the best candidate for this country? Who will serve to defend our country, and serve to maintain its sovereignty, and its independence?"
In the end, if we fall to the media campaigns, and the attack ads, and the attempts to discredit, insult, and belittle the different candidates we are failing to examine what is most important about the candidates.
The actual ideals they are pushing, the actual ideology they are pushing, and the policies they are likely to make, and how those will effect the United States.
All I ask, is that you don't limit yourself to the two main candidates.

I disagree. I think it's far more civilized than dictatorship, because we will always be governed, whether we choose that governance or not. I'd rather have a hand in the choosing.
