The HOG-

So I've been all over the seedbanks looking at all the different strains out there, but it's been a while since I've seen The HOG or Hog's Breath around locally. It's a great smoke, nice and sweet tasting, tight nugs, but have never seen the plant itself under typical indoor growing conditions. Has anybody grown this strain before and got any decent pics they'd mind showing?

The seeds are pretty frickin' expensive, and with so many out there that are high quality too and cheaper, I need more convincing before I'm gonna drop the coin. The description Attitude gives is not complete enough to have me fully sold. What are the genetics of this plant? Is it just known by some other name elsewhere? Thanks.

Oh, and when I say "typical growing conditions", I mean NO CFLs or other weaksauce methods. Serious growers only. Lol.

A good indoor strain. It seems to get big fast, kind of stretchy, but fills in against all odds. Makes for big , solid nugs. Even when the buds are solid white hairs, the bud is super solid. The only plant I've ever seen as solid, while still totally white hairs. Not too sweet, or tasty, but real stoney and crystally. I picked the fastest one to use, and finishes in 8 weeks with nice orange hairs when dry.

Thanks. Would you say it's worth spending around $160 (with shipping) to get your hands on it given the vast selection of other choices out there that are much cheaper?

I'm also surprised you said it didn't have much taste. The stuff I've tried has tasted great, and looked good too.

I only got 10 seeds, of which half were male, so I did not go deep into the diversity pool. I'm sure some do taste great, and I wish mine tasted better, but, it tastes like good weed, and I can't expect too much more. It's a very good yielder, and I kept it around, the best earliest female, for breeding with the less vigorous , tastier males of some good medi strains. I would go with the MK Ultra if I were you. Not too much more $, and one of the crystaliest?, tastiest, nuggiest plants I've seen, along with very few select others.

I have never grown it, but I will contribute to a smoke report that I have had the pleasure of experiencing.

I had a hybrid (The HOG dominant) grown by a friend of The HOG x White Widow.
Taste: Ham/cheesy/pungent
Odor: Extremely pungent
High: Strong, medical definitely, almost instant hitting, good duration, semi-narcotic feeling. I feel (unfortunately due to The HOG) that the ceiling effect is low, and tolerance rises quickly.

sorry I can't offer more.

EDIT: As to the genetics, I hear mixed reports, supposedly it is from a cut of the Hogsbreath... and it is heavily indica dominant (that I can confirm! lol)

So are Hog and Hog's Breath different strains or just known differently in places under different names?

You have to find the hogs breath pheno out of a pack of hog seeds. Veg them then take the very top and clone it and in a few weeks under 12/12 you should be able to spot the best pheno. The hogs breath pheno being garlicy and foot odor smell is what to look for. The pheno I have grows nice buds, is very citrusy and above all else gets you toatally fucked up. Sorry no hog pics yet. Give or take 3 weeks.

This is where I get confusion.. I think that Hog's breath is the original cut and The HOG is a pheno after breeding it.

I've got some HogBreath x Master Kush going right now. Looks good But I lost the mother deu to a fungas gnat issue. It was infact the mother that started the mess and for some reason bugs love this guy! My other plants were fine and this one got raped!! Eventually I had 2 others (JTR) succumb to the same issues but they were 7 weeks and about the time Subcool reccomended harvesting them. Anyway, looks like a good strain but no harvest yet.. Really smelly btw..

the hog was actually the first thing i ever grew... it is a beast let me tell you and i wish i still had it around.

in a pack there are a lot of phenos, you would be lucky to get one hog in a whole pack (this was several years ago so maybe they have improved their genetics) but you will know it when you see it..

its very indica dominant stature wise, with close internodes and a beefy stems and branches.. as said earlier it smells just like bad garlic breath when you pinch it, and is one of the more potent strains ive ever smoked.. has a very hashy, piney taste to it with a bit of a spice on the end of it, kinda like garlic.. its very interesting indeed..

it is a great great yielder i will tell you that, i used to pull a little over 1.5 consistantly and over 2lbs when i dialed it in, in a 4x4 ebb n flo under 1k, and that was when i barely knew what i was doing LOL.

all in all i would say its a great strain to grow, but it will take time to find the pheno you want.. id suggest getting something more consistant while you try to figure out which one is the hog. definitely worth the money though

Right on. That's the kind of feedback I was looking for. Currently have AK-47, Hashberry, NL x Skunk#1 and White Indica, but will be looking to pick this up very soon. Anybody in NorCal have a good cutting of it for me? kiss-ass

The thing is is that I cant really say much about what it produces. I flowered a couple and it looked to be pretty hairy and had a very powerful citrusy grapefruit smell. I know that might sound a little boring to some but the high-knockout. My toxic tent killed the 2 plants I flowered by week 4 they were dead and fried. So I didnt throw out the plants. They sat in the container and dried in a couple weeks. Well I was out of weed and ended up taking some of the buds off of that plant to see what it would do to me. And its 4 weeks immature. The high was very racy and caused me to get a little anxiety but was intense. Didnt like it much of the duration but it seemed to hang on for a long time. I was out of it for quite awhile off of weed 4 weeks from done. So Im thinking that the pheno I have will hopefully be the most potent shit I have grown yet. I hope thats how it works.
