I really love those buckets. I have just one plant going now, she hit 1 week since sprouting on wednesday. Looks like our plants are at about the same age.

Here are the girls (4/5 germinated) a week later.

And here are two freebie Afghan Mafia seeds: one is day 3 from germination, one has germinated but not sprouted.

ok how is the best way to reuse perilite -- if i go hempy (which i am strongly considering) -- It will look odd throwing that much shit out -- with dirt i can just dump it in a garden.

can you soak it in something, heat it on a stove to a certain point? presure cooker?

thanks

Hey hempy fans, here's some Mandala Satori I've been growing out in hempy buckets - thanks to AZgrow and his awesome thread. I fill the res with pure perlite, then cover the top with either pure coco or a mix of coco and perlite. So far, all I have to say is hempy buckets are awesome! They are a truly easy, cheap, yet productive way of growing the good herb.

How do I make perlite ready for another plant? I've gone through and removed all the roots and given it a decient rinse. Is there anything else I need to do?

for how long?

I've said this here before. I took used perlite from a grow, put it in a large container and just hosed the shit out of it. Most of the roots floated to the top except the chunks that were really entwined with root matter. Those I just threw away Then I let it dry and put the perlite back in a 3 gallon hempy bucket and stuck some basil in there. It's now the most massive basil plant I've ever seen. Very fragrant and vigorous. It has a sibling I stuck in dirt right next to it. That plant is pathetic in comparison. I'm pretty sure I won't grow basil any other way from now on. I've never reused perlite for MJ though. But there's really no reason why you couldn't.

I don't think you really want to boil your perlite in H2O2. How much perlite are you talking about? 15 gallons or so if you are me. You'll need a great big pot and a lot of hydrogen peroxide. Also, I'm thinking hydrogen peroxide would break down pretty rapidly if you boil it. It might just be cheaper to buy new. My $.02
