if your starting off with seeds start them in 16 oz plastic cups don't start them in the bigger buckets because it will take longer for the roots to hit the res
this is very important step that i think alot of wanna look over....make sure you got a nice root system before going into larger container's other wise you'll lose up to4 weeks of growth cause the plants still working on root structure...peace az

seen as how i cant see inside my cups whats the best way to know if theres enough root to transplant?? when i fill my cups now i literally takes 3-4 hrs before its.. not dry but, no more water in the bottom, still moist i guess but i can tip the cup nothing will run out. so that means theres plenty of root at the bottom of my cups now right??. in 1\3 plants i can see roots swirling all around the hole, but the other 2 i cannot.. its been 2 full weeks theyre in the perlite.now, and about 3 days before i put them in... think they're good to go for 5gal ? i plan to grow big plants though, and few of them

My bad,I'm a natural asshole. Tell me about the work of growing. lol

Don't start in large containers, work up. Don't rush between transplants because you want good roots. If you are worried about cost, every container I've ever used was free. If you've ever grown any plant at all this isn't any different.

Here's a couple pics of my op from today. 22 5 gallon hempies in veg and 15 blooming, end of week 7.

Always make sure you have plenty of veggies!

The more you grow, the more you know.:-P
Looks like your having a problem with too much heat, or too much nitro.

Hey AZ, thanks for the answer to the thing about transplanting..what do you do with your mixed batches of nutes??? im having a problem, ive been keeping it bubbling, but with no airstone.. but there's always some crap that forms in my res.. basically, i open up a 1gal of distilled water, and i mix it to proper levels, and drop my airline in there, but there's these little white floatys that form after a day or 2, cant tell if its like dust sucked up by the pump, or if it just develops in the water??...couldnt tell you what they are exactly... today i check and now theres a ton of brown one's floating around.. i assume its all the white stuff that was in there already not turned brown... ill snap a pic for the heck of it.. but what do you do with your pre mixed solutions??? just cap it and forget it? do i need to be bubbling it or not? because im sure without droppin in the air hose it wouldn't be the case... thanks!

That would be heat. At 7 weeks of flowering, I wasn't adding any N. Summer is not my favorite season for growing and I'm not going to start air conditioning my basement. I pulled about 2 oz per plant in any case which is fine by my standards.:leaf::leaf::leaf:

alrighty, all transplanted and put under the 1000w MH, now these babies should take off, and even more so when they hit that res, considering i dont hav eroots going to bottom yet, should i just mildly water and feed them like twice a day rather than fill until my holes?? seen as how its kind of a waste? thats what im gonna do until told otherwise, here some pics i'll randomly update as time goes up with some new pics for this thread, not gonna do a journal though, thanks again everyone who's helped!

im having negative pressure problems in my room gonna have to get a speed controller or dimmer switch or something for it.. it just sucks way too good (not that id ever normally complain about such things).. the walls of my tent get sucked in when i seal everything up, not to the point of ripping down the plastic, but still

then once i see sum growth move them into big buckets, n thts me, im gettin thr, slowly but surely lol
cheers bro :bigjoint:

Hello, just started my first grow. I have got my hempy buckets set up with four clones for my first grow. I have added the nutrients I've deemed necessary for starting clones by reading other posts. The problem is I don't know how to tell if the roots have reached the reservoir. Everyone talks about how that is a pinnacle moment in the grow and signals an increase in nutrients but I don't want to just go digging in my medium right? How do I know?!!

collie buds for future reference you transplanted way way to early into those 5 gallon containers next time get them to 12 or 15 inches in the 16 oz cups then transplant. peace

imo height really isn't what ya looking for...as you could have weak far away lighting causing your plants to stretch out to 12+inches in'a a 16oz cup....ime i go for node structure an wait for about the 4th-5th nodes an put em in 5 gals....but also in that same breath waiting for them to get root bound ina small cup is as counter productive as putting small plants in larger container's....it takes a few runs to fully get your room growing properly so it might take a few trail an error's...as even if your copying someone's room(unless it's a sealed based room where you soley control the enviro) your experience's may vary from 1 grower to another...peace az
