haha it's really easier that way? haven't tried that. i'll do that next harvest. i'm glad i'm not the only one who's too cheap to just throw the shit away.
Imho it was easier in the long run cause, the rootbulb was more flexible and im able to "roll" most of the perlite out of it..
While when dried up completely, the roots tend to fall appart very easily, thus making for one hell of a sifting job :)

About the price, then i don't see any reason not to reuse it.. Its perfectly fine and if youre really anal about your plants, then give it a rinse first..

Personally ive just made a new grow reusing perlite.. Even tho i threw out a few buckets i had at least 50% left for recycle..

And my biggest problem was to dispose of a bunch of big fat rootbulbs with perlite attached unnoticed..
So getting out the perlite and reusing is just as much for the stealth part of it :)

Doing Hempy, bought the wrong nutes for vegging, well, they're not bad or anything I just accidentally bought non-hydro nutes.

Anyway, I bought FoxFarm Grow Big instant~concentrate instead of the Hydro FoxFarm nutes (Blue Bottle instead of the green bottle I have right now). It contains trace minerals and it's liquid so I suppose it should work fine.

Am I correct in assuming it will work fine for vegging? For flowering I bought FoxFarm Tiger Bloom. I've heard good things about both products. Anyone using the same nutes as me? If so how are they treating your plants?

I'm going to do a 75% pearlite - 25% vermiculite mix using CFL lighting (for now). I'm growing from good bag seed to start but plan to clone and buy some dank seeds as soon as financially possible.

Any advice anyone might want to throw out that relates to my specific grow?

Thanks,

-brother.

Hi everyone, thanks for all the info. First time grower (newb), but am so interested in the Hempy method. Anyway, I want to make the switch and need to ask a simple question. I really apologize if this has been asked and answered. I tried reading through the forum last night, but cannot make it all the way through. Please help... I want to switch to Hempy, but am growing three medijuana strains in soil. They are about 6 weeks old and about 8 inches tall. They are healthy. I don't like soil because I can't control the nutes. Is it safe to switch this late in the game or should I leave well enough alone? I will take some clones soon and grow those Hempy style, but what about the main plant? Sorry if this has been asked before, I really did try to read through. I saw the posts from Cirrus12 and H8U4EVER, but they seemed to have younger, smaller plants. Will this work for me? Do I just remove the pot, gently shake her (hopefully) and transplant? Thank you.

i would just leave those plants in soil. taking clones and using hempy for them sounds like the best way for you to switch. trying to take those plants out and shaking off the soil w/o causing too much damage to the roots would be very hard.

no i dont disturb the roots at all that causes problems. also i use a light perlite amended soil to begin with so the transition is easy.

Thanks, so you just drop the root ball, soil and all? Then just water per this thread? i assume that the watering will break up the soil down the road? But in the end, do you recommend switching or staying with soil at this point? If I switch will I lost time?

i have switched to vegging in hempy as well but when i used soil and went to hempy it was fine no problems dont disturb roots too much it screws things up.

I had no problems when I transferred bigger plants than yours from soil to hempy. And I never looked back!:weed::weed::weed:

Thanks. I will give Hempy a try with one plant, just in case i screw up this idiot proof method. I'll post photos and let you all know how it goes in a week.
