KUSH OFF UPDATE: 09 OCT 23 - THIRD TO FINISH
goes to: Kannabia Purple Kush!

not many king long buds as the last 2, but MANY buds. it produced a lot of cola sites. there were some worthy of photos with the can, but most interesting was the colors it produced. from light to very dark purples. nice floral scent on chop.

Beautiful buds! I like purple strains for something different to grow, they also seem to help with nausea and stomach problems for my wife usually.
the kannabia purple kush had some really pretty colors. started out a pastel purple. at harvest it had ranges from pastel to deep purple. nice floral smell too.

i hope the kannabia buds are more dense than it's blimburn counterpart. been trimming that one all day. got 3 branches left.
lots of trimming to get very little/sparse buds. what a bummer. i can see why people moved away from this as a commercial crop...

does your wife like GDP or purple punch?

I just started chop on my Purple Punch yesterday so we'll see as soon as its dry. It looks great and the smell is very strong grape soda.

KUSH OFF UPDATE: 12 OCT 23 - FOURTH TO FINISH
goes to: Seedsman Critical Purple Kush!
@SeedsmanUSA

this plant is one roided-out beast. if you would still consider this a "purple kush" it wins hands down. chunkiest, fattest flowers in the entire garden. closest to it are bubba kush and purple bubba kush... but this one beats those by wide margin as well.
i believe if i had stopped topping in early july this plant would have turned out differently as it didn't stretch much... but this is the result.
i'm still ok with this. i'll take one for the team.

photobombs: milo (hidden by bud) moncho (middle) and jack (far)

this photo does not do this plant any justice. this monstrosity of a "branchud" (branch+bud = branchud) dwarfs the can. in circumference as well. it's as wide as 2 cans and tall as 3 stacked. sadly it will lose a lot of that drying out... but hey... i can still marvel.

none of my photos are complete without the dog hairs...

a MIGHTY plant to grow. not sure if part of the phenotype, but it always had lighter colored leaves than the rest of the garden. i played pretty hard with this one's top dress and additional liquid fert feedings. it NEVER made the leaves any darker. *shrugs*
excited to try this one out when the dry/trim/cure is complete... lets hope it lives up to all this hype/show. certainly frosty enough.

til the next one.

goes to: 2020 Mendocino - The Spice!

i didn't have big expectations of this plant. it was started late. lagged in veg (in it's defense, our summer was 3 months of over 100F daily with zero rain) and seemed to take it's sweet time doing anything with flower. it finished. no king kong buds to do the can-parison. but still respectable yield.
smells good, got some unexpected purple colorations (when we finally got below 90F nights) and was quite sticky during the wash/rinse after chopping. excited to try it out when it's done with dry/cure.

goes to: Barney’s Farm - Strawberry Lemonade

another strain i was ambivalent about. it’s a top 15 core list strain, so gotta get it on, and did. i didn’t really pay much attention to it other than making sure it was healthy. but that changed when the weather FINALLY got cooler and this thing put on a color show. reds, yellows, oranges, purples. very cool. i’m sure my photos will do it no justice… but it was quite pretty. never seen a ganj flower throw that many colors before. very cool. smells good too. cleaned up nice and produced a good amount of chunky buds. only two colas were possibly worthy of a can-parison, but i did not get to. workmen showed up and had to move everything quickly. :open_mouth:

goes to: Blimburn - Purple Bubba Kush

every branch ends in kong kong colas. the rain pretty much snapped the branches. flowers just too heavy. wanted it to go another week, but it's just going to keep raining. this one was also a likely candidate for bud rot so decided to chop. lots of scent on chop and wash. looking forward to testing.

goes to: Garden of Green - Candyland

consistently one of the top plants in the garden this year. a healthy and vigorous grow. smells amazing. excellent production with lots of massive colas. very excited for this one. was expecting a bit of purple coloration, but the nights haven't been all that cool. this was another one the recent rains beat down. colas too heavy. had to chop it.
