The Fridge and the Weed?

the fridge will help stop the breakdown of THC...so yes, just be careful of how you handle it, the cold can cause the trichs to fall off in the bag....my buddies dad used to store his in the freezer for long term storage
 
Well im not freezing it, im putting it with my veggies. Freezer i think will freeze up the bud to green ice cubes n will loose thc.

While some people would advocate freezing your trees, the above steps will keep your herb in great condition for many months (some would argue for up to a year.) If you're holding on to your herb for more than a couple months, you should probably just buy less.

i store my weed that way, in room temp, airtight jars, in the dark. and i think the comment about buying less is comical. most of us here at the forums grow our own shit.
ive have a stash of some bubblegum i grew for personal use in august of last year, and i can personally state that it is still VERY high Quality!
 
The key is to keep them airtight and out of the light. Canning jars work great for that, it should last AT LEAST a year without noticeable degradation (unless it's opened up to air all the time)

I used to keep my weed in a freezer bag in the freezer. It was brown seeded stuff, but it lasted for 3-4 years and still got me really stoned
 
you could always use a food saver plus, and the vac canisters, or mason jar sealer.. suck all the air out of it
 
I've heard of people putting their excess nug into air tight glass jars and burying them a foot or two under the soil in their yard for long term storage.

id hate to forget where i buried them.. your just as good putting jars in a military ammo can

I live in Hawaii and I've learned that Room Temp and Room Humidity here are much higher than the rest of the world. Even when perfectly dried it starts molding after 3-4 months. So while you are right for 90% of growers on this site, for me that wouldn't work.

So I've started putting my jars in the crisper with low humidity setting. Been curing for about 5 days now, and although the outside of the jars are wet, when I burp the jars and pour out the medicine to mix it up to prevent mold it looks amazing and dry (and smells better than day 5 curing in room temp dark area.

So far Refridgeration seems to be fine, but in 3 weeks i'll know for sure. It could cause mold by week 3 and ruin all of it for all I know.
 
From reading back in the day and my recollection of the literature, the freezer could be used for long term storage and the fridge could be used for shorter stashes. Today the verdict seems to be a little split on if it is okay. I guess I would say thhe most important thing is that the container is air tight and that the buds are properly dry. Obviously increased or decreased humidity will not have any effect if this is done properly. For a few months storage I wuld just store in a cool dark area. I never had the need to store weed that long and there's always more weed about to be harvested anyways. If I needed to store weed for a very long time like an outdoor grow or something, I would try storing in the freezer, and move to the refridgerator and finally into a dark room. Basically, it would be a perpetual curing system so there is always buds in every stage of storage. You don't want to pull the buds directly out of the freezer for smoking.
 
military ammo cans, we have a bunch of them lying aroung from jasons army days. jars in ammo cans are great no light no smell, no elements.
