Everybody and their dog wants you to use their apps. This new android phone I got has a ton of them I need to go through and figure out what I can toss or is worth keeping. I only want what I'll actually use and turn off permissions for almost everything. Pisses me off I have to use the DJI app to fly my drone. It tracks all your flight logs, location etc or the damn thing won't move.

Everything's going digital. No more date tags on the license plates. No more pink slips for insurance and they keep pushing me to use the app. Could win 1 of 5 $200 prizes! Screw you!

Another generation and it'll all be digital including your money. If you want to toss the bum on the corner a few bucks he better have the f'n app!

Thing is all the yung-uns are slipping into it thinking it's all real and don't know any better.

I'm paying good money to keep to myself online and that's money well spent . . . with a f'n VISA card no less.

I hear ya... someone catches a fish now and they instantly post it. Within an hour there's a line of guys walking down the pier. This platform is the only form of social media I have and even then I'm pretty tight lipped about where I go etc. I believe the internet ruined fishing. For so many reasons

I post my catches on fishbrain. I always put the marker in the middle of nowhere and as you can see from my pics good fucking luck figuring out my spot location lol.

Can't say my spots have been inundated however most people won't be able to get to where I go anyway.

Lmfao. That's next level. Get a small boat man. Problem gets solved real fast that way. A drone ain't getting them out on the water itself.

I had a boat... Lol. It ended up being a money pit and I got rid of it. Looking for something else. Boat doesn't solve all the problems here. While perch fishing I could hop from boat to boat for about a km. People bring binoculars if they see you're on the school it's a bline straight beside you. Once the cooler weather sets in alot of the Fairweather fishermen take to their couches but trout's a big thing down here so it still brings crowds. It's one thing that makes me sad about fishing.
Me and the wife got a 2 person kayak so I've been learning a bit. Might get a fishing one.... Unsure ATM. Weighing options.

i have a boat i havent used in 2 years.

lost my fishing bro to canscer and havent put it the water since.

within a hour drive south i can fish at a state park off a pier.

within a hour drive north i can fish my pond off a pier.

went fill feeders and wet a line....dont know how much longer my ponds gunna hold up..we need rain

I almost bought a fishing kayak not long before I bought my 12' aluminum tinny. I knew the tinny would fit in my quad trailer, don't have a quad, because I used it to borrow my neighbour's one the same size to get out on my dugout and clean the filter screen. With a kayak you pretty much have to step in the water to get in it or risk falling in trying to get in off a dock. Then there is the issue of bathroom breaks. I just kneel on the floor of the boat and do #1 in my little bailing bucket and dump it overboard. I bought a 3x3' rubber floor mat so when I move things around it cuts down on the noise plus gives me a good surface to stand on while casting a fly. Also saves my knees while doing the aforementioned function.

A fishing kayak can be easier to handle tho. The one I was looking at was only 36lbs, had 1 swivel and 3 fixed rod holders and was on sale so with my senior's discount would have only been $300 or so. Easy to strap on the roof of a small car or toss in the back of a pickup if that's what you got. I needed a trailer for dump runs and hauling stuff then later moving the boat.

The front of the trailer folds down so you get an extra foot and a half length and I rigged the tailgate so it can stick out then moved one of the ramps to the centre to make it easier to slide the boat in and out. Also bought two 6" drop trailer hitches and 2" balls. One lifts the front of the trailer so when I back down to the water the tailgate is in the water so it works like a boat trailer and the other one lowers the front of the trailer for the drive home so the taillights can be seen by people behind me as they are right on the bottom. I may get some to bolt onto the fenders but this seems to work. Not hard to swap them out for the drive home in the dark and I can lift the tongue with one hand but the leg I installed helps with swapping out the hitches too.





I got two of those clip-on seats with it but don't like them so just grab the seat cushion out of the car and use that. They're too high and make the boat tippy plus I can't sit in one to row and I like getting a little exercise when I go out. I don't even take the trolling motor to the trout lake. Takes all of 4 or 5 min to row across it so why bother.

If I did go somewhere and had a lot of gear to haul I can load the boat upside down on some boards the guy I bought the boat from made for me while I was running around Edmonton getting the trolling motor, batter and other stuff. I stopped at his place about a half hour before Edmonton and dropped the trailer there to do my running around and he made them while I was gone.

I made the motor transporter out of box dolly. Pretty handy as that damn thing is heavy. It can hold both motors for winter storage. Still haven't used it yet. 50lb thrust trolling motor so that works well enough for the bigger lake. When I use the handle extension I can sit in the middle seat and get almost 5mph out of it according to my little Garmin GPS unit. The tailgate of the trailer folds down flat inside the trailer too.



It's my mom's b-day today but she must be out as she didn't answer my phone call. 96 this time.

I'm talking mini bro. It's a 10 foot by 5 foot boat. Can be taken in 1 foot of water. It's about getting to places no one else can or is willing to go imo.

If I were to frequent accessible places I would be running into the same things you are speaking of.

I can appreciate wanting to be alone, I do frequently. Our trout boat is a 21' x 5' welded aluminum tunnel hull double X with a 60/40 jet that will run in roughly 3" of water on plane. The jet intake is approximately 2" above the bottom of the boat.
She's a bit loud being a jet but gets us to the fish & will hit 35 plus.

I told you earlier in this thread, or I think I did, about a fellow fishsniffer i would always run into while bankin it. Well while sturgeon fishing on that little pier on montezuma slough one day, I told him about my bad ass spot, lets just say towards antioch from chain island. told him exactly where. Offered to take him out on the boat too. i was just taking a break from the boat like I’d occasionally do. Guess what that dickhead posted on the fishsniffer. A couple days later the whole armada was there my spot was burned for a minute.

It's unfortunate that people can't keep good shit as good shit. The good news is let a year or 2 go by and those spots generally open right back up.

It's because it's not about the fishing anymore. It's about the clout, not the trout. I was raised old school. I learned things myself and by making friends with the old guys. Ya they gave me the gears as a young kid, but it toughened me up and made me a better fisherman. Plus I got to tag along to all the old guy spots I wouldnt ever tell a soul about those spots for fear of them not taking me anymore. I learned so much from them, some who are no longer with us but casting in the giant lake in the sky. It's up to me to continue those traditions and keep those spots clean and safe. I hold this near and dear to my heart, and I remember them always especially when fishing.

I've done searches on the little trout lake I go to and it's not mentioned on any of the fishing spot sites that deal with northern Alberta and as far as I'm concerned it can stay that way! When I go down there on a weekday there is usually no one there but me, the loons and a couple of resident beaver.

I made a stupid decision and will stick by it!

I have decided that I am going to use my BFS setup aldebaran paired with a dobyns Sierra ultra light tomorrow for striper fishing.

6lb test should prove to be a challenge with a 30 inch striper. Lol

I can honestly say at least with my group of guys it's about the fishing. Posting on the app keeps a log that your friends can follow. That is always fun. Just like posting in this thread it's fun to show off your catches.

I love catching big fish on light tackle that sounds fun, I catch 20+ pound carp on a medium light spinning rod and 4lb test seguar basix all the time. We dont have stripers in Washington though.

All I ever used for coho salmon was 6# line on a small spinning reel but a long flexible rod to absorb the shocks. Would sometimes get a 35# chum on there tho as they run about the same time. Those could waste a half hour so would sometimes break them off to get back to the coho. The chum are commercial fish so not allowed to keep them tho bait fishers would want them for the roe.

People in this province don't know how to play a fish worth shit. A few years ago they brought in a barbless hook rule. You could still have multiple treble hooks on a lure but you had to file off or squish the barbs down. There was such a protest about it they gave in. I see these guys ripping half a fishes face off getting the hooks out then releasing the poor thing to die I want to go over and push them in the water at the least. These are the same a-holes that leave their bait tubs and garbage all over the shore too.

I started fishing single barbless hooks when I was a kid and felt bad about some little trout losing an eye when I had to get my fly back up at the lake. Even in the salt chuck I wouldn't run barbs on big single hooks and I never lose fish unless they break me off. I catch so many pike when I go out I can just give them slack and they will release themselves so I can get back to catching more faster.

It's a lot more fun and challenge with light gear but it is harder on fish when the water is warm and low on oxygen.

I suppose I'm just jaded by it. If you notice I always blur my photos or only post on the ground fish just for the sake of being as hush as possible. It's cool to post pics I'm just mindful of giving away where I am
