The effect of deployment and what it can do to a man

How much time did you spend in the sandbox?

How did you receive the TBI if you don't mind me asking? IED?
Afghanistan's actually not a desert, it's a mountainous wasteland with valleys in the middle of the mountains. We call the dirt moon dust. I only did one tour there, in the Tangi Valley.

It was a dismounted IED. I don't want to go into detail here because I don't want to discuss guys in my unit who might prefer I leave their names out of my mouth. But we got lucky. My team leader and I were like, two steps away. I had just untangled his radio from some brush while on patrol when they ambushed us.

It's about the guy's to your left & right.....

I chose to go to Afghanistan. Although upon learning I was a few weeks from deploying, I used to wake up at 3am every morning, asking myself what I was doing. I was afraid I wouldn't be ready but I wanted to go.

Nice culture, the people im the tribal lands are very shady, but the ones I worked with as interpreters were awesome. We trusted them. We caught the ANA selling fuel to the Taliban, though.

I'll have to read the OP and then respond to the last.

we used to catch alot of those ANA and ANCOP mofos stealing JP 8 and sell it for more outside the wire

See what the fuck I mean? They mix it with ammonium nitrate to create HME ANFO IEDs.
In Vietnam I feared the tiger pit traps.......I pulled a GI out of one once, OMG....
