I have to agree. Upgrading to led myself for my mini grow and they say 600 watt hid is the most efficient size and hope to try that soon in 4x4 tent at other grow. If heat is problem go with led as they run cooler. 400 will be warmer than what you have now. Make sure that you get 3 or 5 watt led. The smaller ones are worthless for growing I hear there are 6 watt leds out now.. Little research goes a long way. Be looking into them myself. Haven't got the led yet. Still researching. having hard time deciding as my micro grow room plan has just changed. Hoping to do a 4 bucket rcdwc in flower and a 3 bucket veg area with one bucket for mother plant. Add a 25 slot clone box and harvest a plant every 2 weeks so I'm having to change my lighting plan. I was looking at some of the ufo style on Amazon that got Good review's but need to see all that's out there. Lot of new units coming out from what I've been able to gather on forums. I want to know more about the 6watt that I'm hearing about. Better penetration I hear but I haven't found any reviews yet. Got 5 more week till I harvest in micro so got time to research lights and plan New area. Hoping to do all this in a area 28inches x 72 inches. Should work with a proven 55-60 day flowering strain.

Well well well! About half of the buds are ready for the curing process, mostly the smaller buds, and I tried a lil bit and DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN! It may be little but it is STRONG! this stuff is better than the dro my friends buy!

I have forgone the separating and labeling process because I forgot which plant was which and just threw them in the same big jar. I must say I am very happy with the results so far! So thus far I've a 1/2 gal mason jar filled (but not too filled, after all I am curing) this stuff is going to last me a good while, I've been smoking less lately and wouldnt doub if this is enough until next harvest.

Speaking of which I am going to upgrade to the 600w light. I figure if a 400w puts out as much heat as a 600w, I might as well get the 6, just hot to get ready for the jungle that is going to ensue after I get that 600 set up!

I'll post some pics later in the week but the girls I put in the flower room are already reaching for the stars!

Okay so I've been out of town for a week and came home to a 600w light system. After severely altering my closets light support system I now have this going on!

It's god damn bright inside! And good news the temps are about the same as before! I think it's mostly due to the great hood from virtualsun and I've my fan hooked directly to it, and also the ballast is outside of the closet space.

But in the week I was was away these girls done had a gargantuan growth spurt!


This was still under the 150wHPS and 85wCFL so you can see the plant directly underneath (also the biggest plant of the bunch) benefitted the most from it.

I'm not ashamed to admit that I am terrified of how over grown this closet is going to get! These girls had a 70day veg cycle, which is the longest I've ever vegged. I just hope that they do t get too much taller, this is a stretchy breed (strawberry haze) and while I do have some room to move up my light, now that I've raised my support backers to the top of the closet, it's only about another foot /foot and a half. Looks like I will be suffering g from the stinkbud too much weed syndrome...

All the clones took root and seem to have had a ever so slight pH problem whilst I was away but they're looking good. I'm thinking of switching from the 85wCFL to (any really) LED system. Since it's just for veg I'm pretty sure I can get whatever's cheapest. I just want to make sure it spreads light evenly so I can not have plants of varying sizes next grow around.

Anyone know a good/cheap LED?

My priority is on lowing wattage consumption above all, as curently my power bill is $120 a month. I'm not sure how much more my bill will be with this 600w, so I want to offset that, also I'm converting all practical lights in my apartment to LED. I also like LED for short inter-node growth

research thoroughly before buying an led panel. i tried one out a while back and was wholly dissatisfied with its performance. the bud was decent, but the yield was very poor. im sure the tech has advanced in the years since i tried it, but just make sure you know what youre getting so you dont end up wasting a pile of money like i did.

My bill in the summer with 1 - 600 watt and a few cfls (Veg) = $350 (That's A/C as well. In the Winter I am usually $220). We also get reamed per KWH though. I pay like $0.23/ KWH.

Just a update quickie:

This flower room is just fucking amazing!



The 600w has only been in there for a few days but the growth has shot up exponentially, I really couldn't be happier for bumping up to it. The kolas are developing magnificent crowns.



I'm going to change out the reservoir tomorrow but at only 23 days in I really can't wait to see this progression. I don't care what the power bill comes to. Although I think my area has a sliding scale from on to off peak hours of 15-23 cents KWH

it's actual draq they say is around 50w and that it would cover a space 2sq.ft. My current CFL is actually 105w and boy it gives of a bit of heat. I'm still a lil precautions to get the LED but at around $70 I think I should just take the plunge, afterall my CFL was about $40

Yeah that's what I was planning. Probably would keep the plants under it for at most 70days while helping the plant height just over/under a foot or so. Plus I think the LED would help keep them short right?

Grow update: Flower day 30!



It's a jungle in there! To say the least I'm ever so proud of the 600w HPS although I have not gotten this month electricity bill yet, so far I am quite pleased! (also my electricity is 8.04 cents per kWh)

So tomorrow I'l be going out of town for a week and it is time to test how good this system is once again. With these big girls in here, they drink about 2 gallons a day now! I have a friend who will be here to check the water level, but I think I may be upgrading my rez to a 20+ gal next grow around.


this strawberry haze maybe a lil too stretchy for this tight space but I think I'm gonna have some good bud! I was starting to get dark green/ canoeing leaves but I took the hint and backed of the Nitrogen for these girls in today's rez change. I put in 11gal of water at about 850-900ppm because I've a feeling the water level is going to drop drastically with my friend so I want to prepare the girls for sub 5gal. I figure they won't get nuit burn at this lower ppm. Pray for them!



The veggies are doing great, recovering quite nicely from when I FIM'ed em the other week. I also trimmed their roots so they don't grow down into the rez and clog my pump while I'm gone. I told my friend to watch out for that, but I also got him high before my lessons so I think he'll forget a lot of it.

Anyway everything is growing amazingly!

Day 36

Empire State Kolas



Just got back into town yesterday and I when I opened my closet, I gasped! These buds are starting to swell and boy oh boy are they big! Again this stinkbud/areoponic system is the tits! I go out of town and come back to a closet garden I dont even recognize.



The system did great I only had 1 hitch and that was that a kola grew up into the light (pictured above) while I did tell my pal watching them to watch put for this specifically, he only was able to pop in once and fill water reservoir. He didn't update my paper log I keep so I'm not sure how many gallons he had to refill, but I think I could've left them unsupervised. Not any real noticeable damage though.



These buds are starting to swell and it looks like I still had too much Nitrogen in my slurry. So today I changed out the water and put in a concotion I think I am going to leave in untill harvest. The ppm @11gal of water is 1060 (minus bene bacteria) so I think I am going to keep this as the final res change as day 50 is when I was going to start weening the plants towards flush, in a very diluted nutrient solution.

Those single leaves almost look like reveg (which wouldn't be the case unless you have a severe light leak). Could just be me as well. Is this a sativa strain?

Orly! Well I wouldn't doubt that as I've bad light leak, the door broke off recently and while it's still kinda on there I bet there's too much light coming in. It's arjans strawberry haze.

But in my last batch the ember goes out often it's ember goes out. The stuff is dried and cured but I bet something to do with maybe that these girls are throttling veg mode...

I guess I'll adjust timers better so it's night time formwhole flower cycle or maybe just get a big curtain outside the closet
