I have some outside plants that i took a couple top buds off
to dry its been about one day drying in a closet, and for some reason
the buds are smelling like fresh cut grass or hay does anyone know what causes that?
My indica changes smell, from day of harvest, to drying 5 or 6 days, to being in the jar one day, to being int he jar 30 days, the smell changes.

You'll learn as you grow but I would get another small air pump and some air stones to increase the oxygen in the tank. More oxygen = bigger roots = bigger plants = bigger buds. Remember no nutes until the second set of real leaves. They have plenty of built in seed nutes to get them that far. They'll tell you when they are ready. Oh and fasten your seatbelt. You're going for a ride! Plant isn't additive but growing them is!

well I had a quick couple of questions for you all. I'm also going with the $189.00 dual spectrum setup and I'm trying to find some 42 watt, 65 watt dual spectrum cfl's and I can't find them anywhere. (Home Depot, Lowes, walmart) I guess it's because of where I am. can any of you suggest a reliable (and cheap lol) website? I've researched alot from you all and I really can't wait to get started on my first grow, I'll be going with the growlab 120, 3'11''x3'11''x6.5'. I'm not sure how many cfl's I'll need but I'll probably be doing 4-5 plants. I was told that I had to vent my grow tent from the top, but I was wondering do I have to get an inline fan to pull the air out, or will one of the ports on top be sufficient enought to vent that big of a space? I'll probably have an oscillating fan pointed upwards towards the bases of the stems to blow the heat back up. I read in rosemans cfl tutorial (genius) that it's good to use a 2:1 ratio depending on what stage your in, but like I said I'm not to familiar with the exact amount of lumens. And for odor control I was thinking about an ozone jr, or something else. Like I said this is my first grow, and all of your comments and thoughts are appreciated. I just enjoy getting on here and reading all of these threads and learning. I'm really anxious to get started, and like I said all comments are welcome. I've got a few bucks to burn maybe $1000 tops. I really wana use cfl's because HID lightings temps are crazy plus this is my first time and I wana enjoy my grow. I did want to try the GH Flora series nutes with the grow, I've read alot of good things about them as well does anyone have any info on them or another 3 part nute? sorry for the long question I'm fried. lol. thanks alot for everything guys.

O yea, I'l be doing top 44 (discontinued strain I believe from Nirvana seeds). I've kept them in the same plastic baggie rolled up in the small Ipod sock they sent it in, inside of a sunglass case. they should still germ right? I hope so becuz If not, then I guess I won't be gorwing( fingers crossed...) I read somewhere that it has a relative of the ruderalis that's why it flowers so quickly, I hope not, I'm really trying to get some good smoke and I don't want to deal with any autoflowering, I am a newbie

Hey Navy - Here's a link to get CFL's of any size you want. I've used them more than once - they're pretty good and usually among the cheapest.

http://www.1000bulbs.com/2-to-200-Watt-Compact-Fluorescent-Screw-In-Light-Bulbs/

I and some others have had to tear their tent down because of heat issues, so I'd say you should get an inline fan for sure.

I use GH nutes and they seem to do pretty good. I just like them being a liquid.

Good luck

DB, I appreciate the advice man thanks alot. and thanks for the link to, well I guess I'll start looking for an inline fan for the top of the tent, what's a good way to calculate the cfm that'll be necessary to vent that big of a tent? :?:

Multiply the tent's width x length x height

I don't know a lot about inlline fans - I've never used one. I have read that the "published" cfm number is some number at "optimal" performance. My tent only had a place for a 4 inch fan. I would have had to get some kind of adapter flange that would fit in the 4 inch hole in my tent on one side, and a different fan on the other.

Ok. If you'vee got that much$ and a home depot near you, you can do much better. If you go to their lighting department they have a 100w Metal Halide security light and a 150w High Pressure sodium light. Alls you need to do is add a cord. Cheap and easy. They each cost $60-$70 and I promise you will get much better results with these lights. I use the 100wMH to veg my clones and it works great for 6-8 plants ander 15".

Navy,

For your size tent I'd get the 4" version of these.

http://www.discount-hydro.com/productdisp.php?pid=560&navid=29

It could cool a 400 watt HPS if you grow into that so it's a good investment. You want to exchange your air volume every 2-5 minutes at least and with your 4x4x6.5 your got 104 cubic feet to cool so anything over 150cfm would be fine or better than fine as you wold exchange the air every minute or less. You'll need an oscellating fan for stem movement and res cooling which you place anywhere it fits in the hut and a small fan set just inside the hut at the bottom by the fresh air intake and you'll be set for ventilation.

1000bulbs is a good website and extremely reliable.

I use GH also because of it being a liquid and having a good accurate grow chart for new growers. It allows me to play mad scientist as I learn what my particular strain likes. It may not be the best but it's very good and relatively cheap

I'd go with the quart size to test how you like it. One Grow, one micro and one bloom. If you have hard water (does your water leave spots on the dishes?) get that hard water micro. A quart of each will last around 2 grows or more. You use a balance of all three in every stage of the grow. I little more grow while vegging and a little more bloom when in flower. You always use the micro.

I really wouldn't mind going with an MH or HPS But I don't want to deal with the heat problems just yet, i want to get a grow or 2 under my belt first before I start using HPS or MH, not to mention that since they're HID lights they both use a Ballast as well. I'm really interested in trying these cfl's out though.

Mostyly, thanks for the input on the nutes, because I was getting ready to order a gal of each! lol. I'll start with a quart like you said, but I've got plenty of Iraq money to spend so I'm just waiting for this whole "trial period" to be over with, then I'll start becoming a mad scientist like you!! lol

Navy,

When you do get HID's you will keep the ballast outside the tent. Many come with 12-15' cordsets. Hey, go gallon if you can afford it. Makes a great general fertilizer for the outside plants also if you find something you like better after you get some experieince. I started with CFL's the first 2 1/2 grows.

This is the BubbleHead Gang Thread.

I'd like to get the BUBBLEHEAD gang more organized and more recognized too..

I'd like to have a BubbleHead Contest. I'll provide some shirts or grow stuff as prizes.
Any ideas? Suggestions?

I'd like to see someone take over the BUBBLEHEADS SOCIAL GROUP. I started it, not knowing what I was doing, but will gladly delete it and let someone else take over.

I'd like to see everyone have the same signature logo, instead of us using two different ones.

I'd like to nominate Mostly Crazy For Chief BubbleHead or President or CEO of the Board of Directors.

Those particular lights, the ballasts are built into the enclosures. But it you're more mechanically inclined you can do what i did and remove the bulb, socket, and reflector from the casing and make it into it's own reflector and have the balast located outside of the room. Because it is only a 100w-150w they generate minimal heat very comparable to cfl's. But you should stick with whatever your comfortable with, I was just suggesting how to get a bigger harvest for your money. Good Luck with the grow. My current grow is in my signature and has helped a lot of people out with ideas for their grow, so I recommend cheking it out.

I use a 150 w & a 250 w mh together in flowering, along with 5-6 cfl's for side lighting. I grow in a basement corner, so the temps stay cooler and heat hasnt been a problem.

What's the deal with spongebob and the other dude in the logo hahaha
Cause they live "under the sea (water). The other dude is Patrick Star, SpongeBob's best friend and neighbor, who is a starfish. He is known to not do anything, and usually gets SpongeBob mixed into his situations.
