What's goin on guys?

Roseman,

I found H2O2 12%, the best I could find, the Hydro shop didn't even have anything stronger. Anyway I followed your steps, still using the same amounts you suggest even though it was weaker, and an 2 hours later Im already noticed a difference in root color. They are whiter, as expected using H2O2 I guess.

When I added my 4 gallons of nutrient solution I ph'd it at 6.1, That was this afternoon at about 4:00 pm. At 7:30 It was up to 6.7, so I adjusted it back down to 6.4

I was thinking I would have to adjust the PH more frequently than once a day since I'm only using 4 gallons.

I appreciate you and all the other heads help, I'll post some pictures soon hopefully. I have a paranoia issue with posting pics online so we'll see.

I WAS paranoid about posting pics 3 years ago. i'm not now.

Here is some info on BGhydro's site, however seems a little outdated, Still worth a read:

http://www.bghydro.com/BGH/static/articles/0506_digiballasts.asp

More info:
http://ezinearticles.com/?Why-Are-Digital-Ballasts-Better&id=754677

http://www.hhydro.com/cgi-bin/hhydro/ELECTRONIC_BALLAST.html

Google the question, lots of answers out there. Read through them all.

When I was trying to choose, the way I looked at it was, the digital ballast use less energy, are more effecient. No EMI to worry about. Big deciding factors was the claim to less noise and less heat and supposed to make your bulbs last longer. Digital is all I have used, so I can't do a personal comparison for you. Maybe one of the other guys have run both.

Oh ya, EMI = eletcro magnetic interference. Basically the old ones can mess with am/fm radios for quite some distance around your house.

I've seen many "cooked" sprouts revive and re-leaf, when in the SH Bubbleponics system. I've seen naked stems 1-1/2 inches tall make new leaves.
Hey Roseman, I took your advice and jury rigged my system to bubbleponics. It was easy, all I had to do was buy a manifold and adapter and connect it to the pump and plumbing I already had in the remote reservoir in my system.

I'm glad you guys turned me on to this, this solves a host of problems I had while waiting for the roots to hit the water. I'm definitely going to incorporate it into my next system. Thanks! :hump:

Notice how the bottom reservoir slides out for access. The wood "box" that the reservoirs sit on is on wheels and the whole unit can be pulled out of it's cubbyhole as one. Built most of this out of stuff I had laying around or left over from my reef tank days.

Looks great Dys! Any way to get that feeder hose about mid cube/netpot. May not be important but that's a lot of water coming out on top. May just have taken the picture at max flow rate. Might be able to use a clothespin to restrict the flow a bit. Wow, a recirculating BP!

Got to get me one of those wheeled shorties. Might make one if I can't by one.

The manifold has adjustable ports, so I turned it down to a fast drip. I couldn't push the tube down in the rocks, there's roots all over the place. I think it'll be OK, I'm going to pull it when the roots hit the water and go back to my original plan.

A problem with using ice chests is that the lids are so thick; I can only get the water high enough to barely reach the bottom of the net pots and I was watering by hand until the roots hit the water. Takes forever for the roots to come out the bottom; once the roots hit the water my plants usually take off. By using the tubes I'm able to open up the overflow valves and bring the water back down to normal operating level and not have to worry about manually watering. Hell yeah!

Adjustable ports. Why didn't I think of that! LOL! You're set to go and I'm quite impressed with the plumbing. So you have a combo drip/dwc! I bet the insulation that a cooler provides will help with water temps later on.

Alright my Ph has been holding at 6.2 for over 16 hours, so that's cool. I'm hoping I dont see anymore rust spots develop, they got pretty bad on my biggest plant, and some on the other 3.

Could those rust spots be from anything else?

PH- 6.2
PPM- 450
TT- 68deg
Temp- 74deg

All the pics I can find of rust spots say OVER FEEDING, or LIGHT BURN, or splashed strong nutes on leaves, but your ppm does not say you are over feeding, so I don't know what is causing them.
Look here:
Marijuana Plants Problems - Yellow Leaves, brown spots, nutrient shortage etc.

I think it may be from nutrient lock-up from PH fluctuation. I'll give them another day to see.
