I've never seen seedlings and younger plants thrive as well under CFL's as I have under MH, and/or HPS mixed together... I'd go ahead and put em under that, and save the CFL's for sprouting. Your growth rate will explode under the HID's...

Yeh that,s what i,ll do, That cfl was a total waste of money, i,ve got 4x 2ft triton tubes that are excelent for cuts and seeds. Then again if it will keep a mother happy then maybe not ???

GanjaGod420000 the most impresive seedlings i ever seen were under a grolux hps Sitting aprox 4ft above them "asking for streach" but not at all. 1 mekong high at aprox 10"/12" tall had leafs on it it the size of my hand  thanks for the input TCD

You can go check out my album on my profile, and see what a lil closet can produce, given the blinding amount of HID lumens I am giving it, along with CO2, and excellent nutes and care... Just posted pics today...

Itz all good man... I'm just a HID nerd, and can't bear to see anything else being used ever... BUT, I do like what I'm seeing in the way of the emerging and growing LED technology and products that are available today... So, ya never know... This HID head, may be turned to the LED future before itz all over with... If nothing else, for some supplemental lighting, at a much lower cost, and temperature...

metal halide will give you nice squat plants, i used to use the cheap mercury vapor lights to veg under they worked great! and at 25 bucks they're hard to beat price wise as well. but pretty simple vegging plants like blue light the red just seems to make them stretch to much.
