O.K. We *all* miss the 'Like' button. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out. But here's maybe we NEED to have and will LIKE!
It's called: The 'Bacon Button'.
Instead of the Like button WE NEED a new more valuable button to push. Only this one we push when we DON'T LIKE something.
Examples? Like this:
-Newbie poster starts PM'ing peeps here looking to 'buy'
-Or maybe they troll threads and/or give false/damaging information.
We (as in all of us here on RIU)need a way to push the 'silent alarm' that PoPo, LEO or DEA scumbags are active on the site and amongst us.
When you press the 'Bacon Button' (only with good reason mind you) the mods or even PotRoast gets an email, message or other notification. (yeah I know that sucks also).
With enough hits on a particular user or users, the 'bad guys' will be identified and maybe a 'silent alarm' can also be sent to us. Almost like a black list of sorts.
After enough people start ignoring these 'bad guys' they will give up or go away all together.
Just a hair-brained idea, I know.
BUT...
We NEED to do something, can't just let these pigs RUIN our time here or make it easy for them.
By policing ourselves, we get rid of the riff-raff and make them unwelcome here.
Almost like a negative karma indicator. Could even have a sticky on the site that lists the users wih the most negative karma?
Kind of like a 'Wall of Shame'.
I don't know...just trying to think of a way to keep this place intact (cause it needs to) and make it better for us all...except the PIGS!
Maybe even name the button in honor of a fallen RIU member...FDD. The FDD button.
