THE AeroGarden Strain Thread

Alright, after much searching and looking around on the forums, I have yet to find a good thread dedicated to the best strains for the AeroGarden. Most AG growers mod their system with additional lighting, and extend the hoods to gain height as much as possible, I'm interested in strains that work well without extending the hood. What strains LST best under the factory height?

Obviously, the Lowryder strain from Joint Dr. is awesome, due to its diminutive stature and high yield. I also understand that MOST Sativa strains work well, again due to their size, but not all sativas are created equal!

So I ask you RIU community, AeroGarden growers, soil, hydro, everyone! Which strains work well in the AeroGarden.

I thought Sativa strains didn't work well?! Indica's are the shorter, bushier plants. Am I wrong? but lowlife has good autoflowering strains as well...

I have grown a few different strains in my Aerogardens! I have tried Shiva Skunk which produced about 15 grams per plant. Three plants would be the max for any Aerogarden though. The roots would be too much for the small space. I have Bubba Kush going now in one Aerogarden, and Super Silver Haze in the other. The Haze seems to be flourishing better in the flowering stage. I really suggest to put the plants on a 250 watt HPS light for the flowering stage, and set the light that comes with the Aerogarden aside. The results will pay for the light many times over.

I have 2 church going now. It is not in an aerogarden but I could see 2 fitting rather crowded after flowering but doable. I would suggest a quick flowerer, say 5-6 weeks over the autoflowerers. The autos seem to produce rather large roots for their top side yield. There is a rather large selection of 'fast flowerers' if you look for them. I have a g13 labs gigabud going now and she is very spacious and loves lst.

Good luck with your variety pack!

heh... lowryder anyone? BUMP!! I may have my seeds selected now, but thats no reason for you kind folks to not fill this thread full of information for other growers...

My current two cents, bagseed does NOT do well in an AG. haha. odds are good its an outdoor strain from Mexico, and therefore grows ridiculously tall, and probably has other genetic mishaps you dont want to bring to the table.

I have an indica strand called Pot of Gold - if you check my signature you can see my grow
it grows pretty low and bushy.

heres some information on it, I got it from Pot of gold nug I got from a friend it had a seed and it germed and grew entirely in the AG just fine.

It got the "honorable mention" at cannabis cup 1998 too

Developed: Hawaii, USA, Holland, F-1 hybrid
Sativa / Indica: Primarily Indica
Appearance: Extremily resinous flowers and leaves
Smell / taste: Smells and tastes like sweet hashish
High / strength: Positive high, very strong
Yield per m2: Very high
Sowing time: May / June
Outdoor harvest: October (Holland)
Flowering period: 8 - 10 weeks (12 hrs indoor)
A money maker, honey shaker, A true resin bomb!

Compact plants that produce massive yields, also one of the most resinous strains in our selection. Pot Of Gold is one of the flagships of the Flying Dutchmen seed company. With a refined sweet Hashish taste and an extremely potent physical effect this strain will leave you stuck to your seat for hours. Good for many medical applications.

check it dale?? if u want to do a really small grow then the ag is good for that, i did it twice. but i used one plant and extra lights and the roots were way crowded. you shoulda got sum 5 gal buckets and made your own but anyway you didnt. with that being said.... you def want indica or autoflower but make sure you read up on your genetics, i have a super cali auto haze from short stuff and its almost 5 feet its suppost to b the biggest most sativa auto. if i were you i would get the recipe for sucsess, ebay for like 40 bucks its hydro nutes for all stages and get some diesel ryder, blue ryder, or even bonkers for auto or if you wanted to cut clones and flower them i would go with a heavy indica like la blanca or a white strain.

I love my russian rocket fuel, it only gets about 10-15 inches tall but it's super bushy, I also have a sativa super cali haze, the sativa out grew the hood space and for the rocket one, I barely had to move the hood up once
