Puffin on some Copa genetics Icy Grape at the moment. This one… I didn’t take any pictures of the grow as I was distracted chasing too many problems. A story for later. Despite issues, Icy Grape still came out fire as hell. This was a freebie. I’d run anything Copa puts out no hesitation.

What’re you puffin on? Anything you’re loving? What’s the word?

I’m not a great gardener honestly but I’m so damn determined I’ve been able to scrape together some experience. It’s also just nice to talk to others that are genuinely interested in growing and improving. Without further ado…

2022 I plan to grow out and show:

  1. GG4 RIL from Tony Green
  2. New York Candy Orange x Double Strawberry Diesel - Also T.G.
  3. NYCO x Gorilla Bubble - T.G.
  4. Lucky Lime from Useful
  5. Mikado from Hazeman
  6. If I have room and time I have more from all three of them.
  7. I also have thousands of old seeds, from 10-30+ years old saved from over the years, mostly mine, but some inherited. I’ve been unsuccessful popping but I do keep trying. You never know.

Also plan to show my space redesign scheduled for mid January and how it produces. Total space to work with is 8x11.5x8.5.

I lost a lot of old pics after accidentally reformatting the wrong SD chip. But really they were just mostly shitty old grows anyway. The future is way brighter.

Lots of regular seeds for me to hunt through and sex in ‘22. Some of it I’ve already started.

Next few posts I’ll show off the current ‘moms’. I keep them small and replace often. I never flower that many plants but it’s nice to have variety and be able to keep the strongest clones as well as getting to know their specific needs better.

GG4 RIL from Tony green’s tortured beans.

I have a pack of the regs and have already determined this is a female. Going through this pack slowly to find a gem. I don’t care if it’s exactly like the original GG4 at all. Just want some super strong sour stank. I know it’s here.

So next flower run will be 2x GG4 RIL and 2x the NYCO x DSD. I’ll have room to flower more with the rebuild but that’s all I’m counting on for sure.

Here is the New York Candy Orange x Double Strawberry Diesel after giving up a bunch of nice cuts. Right now flowering one of these for the first time and I’m loving the structure, smell and speed that it grows. Smells like a strawberry-orange popsicle.

I also have some Useful in the pen. If you’ve seen me post before you know I love his Bag of Oranges. This plant is real medicine for me in many ways.

I’ve also started this Lucky lime from useful too. It’s almost big enough for topping. I don’t know for a fact that it’s a she but I have a feeling it is. It’s just growing like a female I don’t know. Love the limey funk the stem has already and the super fat leaves.

I have previously run:

Useful:

Chem 91 skva x chocolate diesel - not my favorite terps here lemon/catpiss. It’s fire weed though. Strong.

BOO #1 lover and still running

Blackened Oranges - loved and lost an excellent mother to inexperience.

Tony Green:
NYCO x Gorilla Bubble

Copa genetics:
Icy Grape

I know this list is short but I should start to speed up with my new build out.

Technically a long long time ago I may have brought some seeds back home with me from far far away. Grew those out for almost two years and got scared so I stopped. I gave those beans away so they didn’t get wasted. It took me a long time to get back to it. So there is that. Was practically a different person so I don’t count that when I talk about my experience level. I’ve been at it about 4 years here now.

My room set aside for growing is 8x11.5x8.5 but I’ve just got a 3x3 tent in there for flowering right now. It works but the new flower space will be 8 x 6 x8.5.

Almost all of the supplies are ordered to get going.

Current flower lighting:
Sun system ballast running a Phillips 315 3k.
+
An HLG RSpec which is 270 watts at the wall

Can add an old school 400 mh/hps.

No AC and no CO2 for now.

Will vent with two 6 inch filtered exhausts.

I don’t plan to fill the flower space wall to wall. I like the amount of power I draw and what I produce. I’m going to build movable reflective walls to keep the plants in the perfect space for whatever size they are. Allow the space to grow with the plants essentially. Banking on the reflection to seriously up my efficiency with the same power. I should be able to flower a larger footprint with the same watts also. We’ll see.

That should get this started up here. I like sharing my failures as much as my success and try to be as real as I can with info.

Glad I finally made a place to share some of this stuff as I’ve learned a lot here over the years.

Please feel free to ask or jump in on anything.

Favorite fungus gnat control?

Phidippus Audax is even a badass name. I let them decide if they like the garden.

This one likes the GG4 lol.

Last year I caught and put one in a small indoor veggie garden that had some gnats. She disappeared and I thought she’d gone but so we’re the gnats and I forgot all about it. I had stickies up and the fan must have taken care of it so I thought.

Found her under one of the pots when picking some spinach. She’d been living there snackin on gnats all winter.

They are pretty aware of you too. I like pets that feed themselves!

Could they be a vector? Maybe I don’t know but they straight up slay gnats.

Gnat slayer, ld keep him. Along for the ride.

I love um! It’s that time of year they are coming in looking for a winter hiding spot. We have a ton of this particular jumper. This is about the only predator bug I’d try to coax from my environment and I’m only leaving him in the veg space.

They do leave some silk as they hunt but it’s a very small amount. They also build a small little web tunnel house but I’ve never had one build on a plant. It’s always on something next to them. He or she was under the thermometer this morning.
That’s about the only drawback. You’ll move something and there she is lol.

Cloning!

I like jiffy pucks. They store nice and I don’t need to put them into anything for the cuts to stand.

3D43CEE9-61F3-4E78-BA7B-97B58DA2D884.jpeg

Honestly pushing the limits of that with this boo top I just snipped. She’s huge and beautiful. Growing so fast I’m just keeping up.

DBD6465C-3976-4956-80E4-E69AD03A1FE3.jpeg

Upped my clone success greatly by:
Clipping right below a branch node, clipping off the branch and leaf petiole but keeping most of that node chunk intact. That chunk will change to shooting roots when cut off of light and submerged.

I don’t bother clipping the leaves unless it starts to have trouble holding them. If they start to fall I’ll clip and lighten the load. They have always sprung back after that. More often it’s not necessary.

Rooting hormone speeds things up. You can definitely clone without it. I had roots take well over a month to shoot before without hormone though. No heat mat and no hormone it was just ages. The heat mat is probably #1 priority. I generally set mine to 85F. Then humidity and sealing them up at first #2. Hormone is #3.
With hormone if you don’t have roots in two weeks give the thing a pull and see. I’ll pull at like 10 days if I’m impatient. If it comes easy and there are no nubs forming reclip that nub a bit. Or if it’s fucked, take the next nub up if you have room, clip, redip and stick it back in there. I’ve had them root after reclipping as long as the cutting is still holding itself up with water tension. If they are wilted and can’t hold themselves at the stem I toss them and start over.

B96C5A6A-48FD-4942-88A5-19836A28D849.jpeg

Ziplocks. Out of frustration I tried this a couple years ago and honestly now I can’t clone without them. I blow the bags up as full as I can and seal them in for 24 hours. After that I just open the bags and give them some of my CO2 from time to time. I leave them in there though usually until they root. It’s nice you can line the bags up like little folders. If they look like they want to wilt you can seal the individuals in need.

C21B1813-236F-4090-A691-6D86FD63E2C0.jpeg

If taking too long in the bag I start taking them out to get them drying and pumping that cycle a little harder so it gets the message.

By the way! 85F is a bit too hot for seed sprouting imo. If I want to sprout some seeds in the dome with clones at the same time I’ll put a piece of cardboard on the mat or something to keep the jiffy puck off the direct heat. I put seeds right into the pucks too and it works great. It’s fine as long as it’s not directly heating to 85F.

I realize a lot of people have cloners that make this process really easy but I personally wanted a low tech way that worked. Low tech and low stress.

Couldn’t edit the previous post or I’d have included these.

I’ll snip here:
8111AC03-6048-46F4-A0FC-24216C3D88E3.jpeg

Clip everything off the node but keep that chunk mostly intact. Got two nodes that’ll be submerged on this one so bonus. Dip and stick.

9FAD622E-2ECC-4D97-B019-2E14D8A5CF2C.jpeg

Then make sure to work the peat in around the stem until it’s firm. At that 10-14 day if it’s wiggly it probably needs a clip and dip. If it’s still tight they’ll usually be shooting roots pretty quickly.
