I don't mind paying for those at all. Those are great and necessary things. That isn't a construct of socialism, that is a fair society. Everyone should be protected and safe. Sheesh, nice jump there buddy.

I don't know why people fight the socialist angle so hard, or...I guess I do, it's because they're binary and have trouble reconciling something they like with something they don't like, when they're in the same category. It's not hard though, it's just...a little is good, but more is too much.

Anyway, start by realizing that no economic system has ever existed in its true form. In practice, there hasn't ever been a true system of capitalism, socialism, or communism. The services topcat described are unquestionably socialist aspects that exist within a mostly capitalist hodgepodge. The only issue is how hard people want to work to deny the reality of it .
