Texas Outdoor Grower Thread

Any other Texas growers on here? Thought it might be cool to have a thread dedicated to Texas outdoor growers so we can help each other. I’m in south Texas and some of the issues down here (not to mention our weather, lol) is SO different than what many RollItUp growers deal with. So, if you’re from the Lone Star state, pull up a chair!

Welcome to RIU. I'm in the Sandhills of NW Florida. We are getting tons of rain right now. What kind of weather are you getting?

It's HOT... Damn Hot... Fucking Hot. Was 103 yesterday in town (109 with heat index). I'm keeping the plants outside well hydrated, but I think the Sour Diesel may foxtail some. May take pics later, there's company here right now. The neighborhood drunks are here looking for a ride to the beer store.

Well, it's too hot for them to walk. lol

Whatcha got? Outside in a greenhouse, or a stand alone?
Outside, stand alone. Maybe one day I can afford a greenhouse. Lol! Right now I’m just trying to afford a indoor setup. I just returned to growing after a couple of decades ‘off’ and I’m starting off a little slow. I just know our temperatures, pests and illnesses can be different than a lot of the coastal or northern folk. So, I thought it’d be useful (yes, mainly to me ) to have some fellow Texans to get/give support.

How about you? Whatcha got?

X10! This heat is absolutely ridiculous. Heck, it’ll almost make you think there’s something to that while climate change thing! Lol!

I'm a veteran. We made a lot of noise during the Vietnam war, so much the USA finally skulked back home.
No protest at all about the climate. Zero Protest. "Everyone complains about the weather but nobody does anything about it."
Today everyone on the planet is frozen on planet warming like a deer looking in to headlights.
This year and the next, there will be tremendous crop and landscape growth, but three years from now, it will be a disaster, world-wide. And no body know what to do. I'd say we have less than 10-years left for an inhabitable planet. Nothing will change, it will only get hotter. People will sleep during the day and work and play at night. Already happens in Arizona. People play volleyball on lit courts at 9 pm. So more of the same like that. :peace:

Ok y’all, I shouldn’t have made the comment. Let’s try to stay off the hot topic of politics. Like the dining room table my mom always forbid religion and politics, aside from prayer. Hard to do in a politically active family but it sure worked. I have good friends of ALL political persuasions here in Texas. So, let’s stick to friendly topics that won’t offend ANYONE.

My bad for starting it!

102 degrees outside right now. Good thing I water my plants twice a day in this heat or they will be wilting by night fall. My Autoflowering seeds should be in in about two to three days. Going to use them as my fall crop, and hope they seed out big time. I'm looking for a seed harvest off the first go-around.

It’s a cool 101 here today as I’m watching some seeds breaking ground. I’ve got some White Widows that are really lagging, ugh! I hear ya on the seeds. I’m going to make some for myself this fall. Good luck with yours!
