Test on Super soil (Tga charge pack)

I ran across a thread and take no account for this just wanted to share the info on super soil. This test batch was made with the charge pack from Tga which is the basic recipe most people follow..



Ph, Nitrate and cations are all out of whack. Way too much sodium as well. If you plan on following through with using this mix prepare for some hot harsh buds.

annnnd reason #617 as to why it's a piss poor soil mix, predicated on piss poor concepts. Made with piss poor ingredients.
Should make this a sticky RIGHT under the supersoil sticky.

Yap, I used super soil to teach me how to grow because I had no clue when I started and it did work.....till I starting using lquid feedings and promix/coco. Doubled my yields and now my buds burn to a white ash...And half the production costs when not using ss. Not to mention the Fungus gnats my goddam!! Not to mention the amount of heavy metals in guanos, and other meals. I don't seem to be getting that nickle taste in my mouth anymore...

And one more thing. I believe that this soil does not actually "flush" at all it just becomes imbalanced near the end of the cycle and locks out elements giving the appearance that it is flushing.
I took used SS and planted seveal tomato plants on my deck and they grew all the way through with no added nutes so obviously there is a lot left in there at the end.

Lol, I was going to put it in 'Subcool's old school organic section' but didn't want any panties getting bunched.

Now if you have a 'know-it-all' trying to tell you super soil is the shit show them this. People lie, numbers don't, that simple.

Same here, as most folks I started out with the good ol' super soil. Only difference is this mix didn't make me go the bottled nute route. I found different amendments, did a lot of research, had some help from a few people, and I'm still bottle free. Growing big dank nuggets

Since you are not planting directly into the hot soil wouldn't it make sense that it is extra high in nutes? If your roots have a chance to grow and adjust to the layer of hot soil on the bottom and/or the spikes throughout your container they can adjust to the locations and take in those nutrients only when needed.

I no longer use Sub's mix myself either, but to me it is logical that the soil would run "hot".

but they don't, they are root-pruned because of the insane amount of organic nutrients/material, and improper ph.
The roots don't adjust to it, the water soluble nutrients are simply washed away.
besides, why on earth would you do that as opposed to using a recipe with the correct type of nutirents/ph?
roots shoot to the bottom of any container they are planted in, provided the soil is conducive to roots to begin with.
furthermore, the ingredients used are redundant, water soluble, and potentially hazardous.
so why use it to begin with?

Look at the chart one more time and read it carefully. Red is bad and green is good. Subs like " just put it in hot soil and it'll grow especially with a buffering layer" lmao. Stupidest marketing ever!

I always thought he was getting cuts from lots of companies hence the reason he made weed nerd. So much subliminal advertising its crazy. Dudes a capalist down to the nitty gritty and is trying to cash in while he still can.

I don't hate subcool or his mix in anyway i just think it's not the best thing one could use. Sure it's easy to just go pick up some bonemeal from the local hardware store but that shows you the true quality..

I'm in the same boat as you, get the hydro store to order some dte products for you. If they have Bio live they should beable to get anything dte..

If they can't order you anything go with the Bio live. That's definitely good stuff right there. All those ingredients are quality and dte is a quality brand from the pnw.

I'd add that at a 1/2 cup per cu ft and add 1/4 cup of neem to it. Also add 4-5 cups per cu ft of rock dust (basalt,granite,glacial)

Didn't see the Fish meal in here earlier. Between the Fish meal, the Fish Bone meal, the Alfalfa meal, crab meal, and shrimp meal you have A LOT of nitrogen in this mix, which is fine..just wanted to suggest that If you do plan on going through with this don't add the neem as previously stated, I would just top dress it a couple of weeks after your plants are up and going in the mix and have eaten away at some nitrate.

Not really sure why the mycos are in there but dte definitely caters to the 'organic' hydro stores so it makes sense.

I use bio-live, it works great, just get some oyster shell and mix it with it when you use for top dressing, it will help.
