its best if you can mantain a stedy temp all around. cold tempswill cause slow growth. try to keep a 10 to 12 dergees temp diffrence between lights on and off. try notto let temps get below 55 degrees 60 if you can

If you have high fluctuating temp you might want to get those strains. I've just noticed my plants go purp if it gets too cold at night, I added a little heater in the room my cab is in and it hardly runs but the extra couple degrees keeps them from cold purp.

Yes i did too got the temp at a steady 76f, but you are right about the breed of weed afgan weed must grow better with cold nights who knows. so intresting i started a grow diary as its my 1st grow but i love it so mellow find my self sitting in my grow room not wanting to leave. i made the heater from lamp 100w lightbulb and some wire and tinfoil.

it's best to do 85 with lights on, 70 with lights off

In general, a 85/70F (32/16C) day/night temp is best for most hybrids for maximum carbo production. What's really important is a good drop in temperature at night, of at least 15F/4C. If night temps are too high, the plant will use up the carbos manufactured during the day to the process of respiration as opposed to plant cell division/elongation (tissue production).

Ideally temps wouldn't drop much at night, which is very possible given any op is a recreation of nature at the hand of you.

My advise is this:

1. Get a local strain. I am in cold Canada. I see 40F/8C nights often this time of year and my plants don't love it, but they are used to it. They are Canadian and Canada is cold.

2. Set up your op to keep temps 60F/15C night and 70-80F/20-25C day. With space heaters, insulation, a/c, etc. this should be easy to do. Control your girls and your space.

You're doing great. Get it dialed and move on to other challenges.

Good luck!

Im up north and during the day with the lights on i can maintain temps of 75 to 80.. at night it drops down to mid 50's..

i found 2 males and wanted to experiment with them so I put them in an upstairs bathroom.. Once brought upstairs to a more consistent temp (and way less lights) the 2 males have thrived and look super good!! i think temps do make a huge difference but to be honest this is my first grow and im still learning.. I just ordered AK-48, Master Kush and Wonder Woman all feminized from Nirvana so hopefully they will be strong strains..

oh yea I really hope you guys are kidding but there are only 50 states and then we got some territories! spread that capitalism errr i mean democracy

Kinda hard to beleive that UB would recommend 85 degrees in the light. Optimum temp for photosynthesis is 72 to 80 degrees. Go outside that range and you sacrifice growth.

I'm an advanced newbie, just wanted to add a couple of thoughts.

MJ when grown in the wild has the benefit of being in the ground. It takes the ground a lot longer to cool down at night unlike our planters. So while the temp might drop 30 or 40 degrees at night, the roots are kept warmer by the ground that takes a while to cool down.

That being said, every strain is going to be different based on it's place of origin. If it comes from a warm climate like Brazil, then it's probably going to do better with lower drops in temp at night. If it comes from the hills of N Cali, then it might do better with slightly larger drops in temp at night.

Just keep in mind the fact that the root zone in your grow room is going to cool down a lot faster than it normally will if planted in the ground.

Guess what i noticed this as i put one grow tray ontop of my computer grow case temp ontop is toasty this passes through the plastic then warms the clay balls up this keeps the soil at around 50f the plants loved iit and it helped seedlings pop through soil waited 3 days 1`6 left to pop up one day on case they were all inch tall

yes i know 50 states of usa but mexico is 51 and canada is the capitaL NOT DC making 52(mark my words with in 20 years they will add 2 more stars to the flag)

Certain starains can cope with the cold better then others. But what we are trying to do in the indoor growing room is make the ideal room that a plant will thrive in.Through haveing the temps a few degrees less at night will help the plant get bigger faster.Don't think because lights off means no growth i have measured this and the plants do grow at night when there is no lights on.
