I cook with my reclaim. You can get WAY more than just a body high out of it. I've heard tales of reclaim being sent into labs and testing out at over 67% thc still...

What about butane? I know there are tons of people and places selling it. And some of it must be laced with rocket fuel because they want like 9-12 dollars per can. But is my best bet to order a case and have it sent?

depending on what brand they got, and what it costs for the good stuff online, yes, it might be worth it to get it shipped. it might also be worth it to drive 1 hour to the nearest city to get some instead?

if youre getting it shipped, look for london/colibri brand.

this here... 24 cans for 70 + free shipping.. not too bad. I pay 6$ locally in canada.

or if ya only need 6 cans or so... 24 is a lot!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Colibri-Premium-Butane-Gas-Refill-3-04-fl-oz-6-cans-BRAND-NEW-GENUINE/161033157238?rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m1851&_trkparms=aid=222002&algo=SIC.FIT&ao=1&asc=261&meid=1177803046569949595&pid=100005&prg=1088&rk=1&rkt=4&sd=161033158032&

the 6 can auction comes out to 3.65 a can, and the 24 pack is 2.91 a can. damn thats cheap... I pay 5.99... makes you wonder the kind of mark up on this stuff. if someone can sell it for 2.91 a can, it means they pay about 2.00 a can or less, which means the manufacturer makes it for about 75 cents a can filled all said and done with or less.

I just looked and the cans I was using were 10.15 oz or 300ml. for $3.88. Thats 5x premium FasFil. I realize its not in the same league as say, colbrini or vector. But man thats a waay better deal. I have a 60G tube that I usually fill pretty full. I usually used 2 to 2 1/2 cans per run. So about 20-25 oz of butane to 50-60 G good trim.

yeah you can keep it running for the first 15 or 20 mins or so.. just to ensure a full vacuum is achieved and the initial butane has been degassed out if you havnt done a solid water purge. once thats all done, youre good to turn the pump off and close the valve, keeping the chamber under full vacuum. you can occasionally pull on the chamber once in a while to suck out any possible degassing (not as much as youd think), otherwise just let er sit and do its thing!!

when opening the valve when the chamber is under pressure its a good habit to get into is to turn the pump on first.. "hit the ground running" sorta thing, so when you open that valve, there is an instant vacuum pulling on the chamber. same thing when turning it off... close the valve, THEN turn the pump off.

if you ever leave the valve open, the vacuum in the chamber will SUCK on the hose, it will suck the vacuum pump oil right outta your pump and into the chamber, soaking and runing your BHO. one member here recently lost 60 grams of BHO because he let it run overnigt, pump overheated, turned off, and chamber sucked back on the hose with the open valve. ouch!

some guys let their pumps run constantly, as much as 36 hours, but I wouldnt recommend doing that.

Vacpurge, I had the exact thing happen. I left the vacuum with the pump off but still under pressure and then forgot to close the valve over night. Luckily it was a small batch...

yeah ive done it before too haha... I think we all have at least once. and if we havnt, were either lying or havnt been doing this long enough!!!

The verbiage used for when you know what is done is "stable."

What this means, when under vac, is that the wax stops forming new bubbles/popping bubbles. In some cases, you will have small bubbles that are not growing and no new bubbles forming. If this happens for a prolonged period of time, your substance is stable at that temp/pressure.

When I'm making BHO, I stabilize in intervals. I start at room temp, vac until stable, then let sit out for a bit (time can be anywhere from 30 min to 2 hours, depending on what I have going on at home). Then, I'll increase the temp to 105F and vac until stable. Then remove and let sit again. At this point, I'll usually regroup all the extract, which will trap some oxygen, and help release some solvent, so I'll re-stabilize in the vac at 105F and let sit again after regrouping it.

Then I'll increase to 115F and vac until stable. This is because I'm going for shatter, and I'm not interested in vac'ing overnight, as is usually necessary for wax (if you're going for wax, I know some have gone to 120F, but reputable sources recommend staying at 115F as THC can begin to boil under vac at about 130F).

Think of wax as dehydrated shatter. It's a prolonged vac at 115F, long after stability is achieved. Hope this helped! And of course, if my method/info is incorrect, I'm very open to correction.

Well, I had a little accident last week. I was making a batch and I was in the boiling off of the liquid butane stage when it caught fire. HOLY SHIT. It was a flame like a flamethrower about 3-4 feet tall. Luckily I was in my garage and had both the main door and the side door open. Long story short... Nothing burned and I'm fine. I managed to toss the whole Pyrex dish and hot plate into my backyard.
But that brings me to my next question. Can liquid butane catch on fire just if a person were to put it on a really hot hot plate with no spark?

wow you seriously were cooking off fucking butane INDOORS on an ELECTRIC griddle... god damn man are you retarded?!?!?!?!? you need to do a lot more reading around here before you seriously hurt someone else!!

if those doors and windows were closed, youd be in the hospital right now and some little faggot typing up a front page article for the local news paper. I hope you lost all of your oil and shit your pants during that fire. consider it a lesson learned, you got off lucky. I know guys that have lifted the ceilings off their house when they blew theirs up.

No I wasn't cooking indoors technically. I had both windows open, the main garage door open and even the side door open. I even had a box fan running in the window.
I had the heat on low just like I always do.
Are you suggesting that I do the whole procedure outside in my backyard? What do people do in the winter?

absolutely do it in the back yard, no doubt about it. and back away while its evapping, just in case! you do know that butane pools and sinks right? its heavier than air. you were definitely considered indoors, and just because the doors were open, were you getting proper ventilation, ie: intake and exhaust at the same rate for an efficient purge of the garages air? probably not.... so just start doing the spraying, and especially the evapping, in the middle of the yard, tons of ventilation. and dont stand aroud watching while it evaps... those fumes aint healthy to be breathing in, neither are flames. trust me, they fuckin hurt more than the average burn that youve prob had before! and when you go to the hospital, dont lie about it, tell them its a butane burn... we said it was gasoline so they gave my buddy a gasoline burn type cream that just made it worse, but then they might call the cops.. some places making BHO is like making meth. gets ya 10 years minimum. in cali I think its BRUTAL to get caught making BHO. kiss your family goodbye sorta thing. trust me, you dont want to blow up.

heat on low doesnt matter, a spark is a spark, live electrical is live electrical. all that butane needs is a microspark and then holy fuck watch out. even static sparks if youre wearing a big wool sweater when evapping can do it. or a cigarette butt sitting in the ashtray that you snuck in before the purge because ya just couldnt fucking wait 3 minutes (like my buddy) and only half assed put out by the back door, and youre evapping oil 15 feet away in the middle of the yard. gotta think about stuff before its too late. you got lucky, most explosions turn out pretty bad. depends how far into the cook you were I guess. I prefer all natural heat (warm water... or even sand) and ventilation (wind). takes 15 mins.. some members here just let theirs sit outside in the warmth for 6 hours, with no hot water below it.. im too impatient. the hot water makes it 100x more dangerous though, that butane evaporates QUICKLY.

winter dont matter, I live in canada and it was -41C last winter, its ALREADY winter here, we got snow this morning... no fucking joke. its +4C this morning... chilly out. the cold isnt a problem, just takes a few more water cycles is all.

take your butane dish, and find an even bigger one. now take that bigger one, fill it with hot water, set it in the yard... let your butane dish FLOAT in that hot water for 10 mins, and get the hell back into the house. then go check on it in 10 mins... 90% of the butane should be gone, and the water will be cold. set the butane dish down, go inside and get fresh hot water. back outside, let dish FLOAT in the hot water again for 10 mins... then its safe to bring inside and play with and finalize however you like.

I do appreciate all this info. Hopefully it can help other people too..
I have a question about the liquid butane. When it's still liquid right before you start to warm it up. If you were to put it on a very hot hot plate it would probably boil over in 1-2 seconds and then explode right?
Or if you had it on shear source and it really started to boil. That would be really bad right.

if it boils over, you need a WAY bigger dish and are using WAY too much heat it if boils that quick. you should be able to rest your hand on it.. ie no more than 120F or so. butane in any form is extremely flammable. while its liquid its not so bad as it would be just a fire... its those fumes everywhere that will hurt you, and the instant need for 100,000 cubic meters of oxygen that causes windows, doors, and walls to get sucked in, or blown off.. butane is most dangerous in its gas form, especially because its undetectable to the naked eye. yes if it hit a hot plate, it would probably create enough of a spark or whatever to catch fire. you shouldnt be using a hot plate near dishes full of butane. to make a fire you need fuel (butane) air (yup) and a heat source... not a spark, a heat source.

when I put my butane on the hot water dish, it boils like fuckin crazy. but it doesnt boil over, and if it ever did, its definitely not hitting a live, red hot, electric grille.

the onl time you should be using a hot plate is for the vacuum chamber to rest on. otherwise hot water/sand is your best bet.

try freezing the butane before running it too so it remains liquid longer and not a gas that youre inhaling the whole time while blasting.

Yes.

Please, for the community, stop making BHO unless you are standing OUTDOORS. NO matter how many windows, doors or fans are open, you're going to have a serious fucking accident and join the ranks of idiots who cause serious damage and ruin people's lives.

NEVER MAKE BHO INDOORS. PERIOD. FUCKING MOTHERFUCKING PERIOD.

Ditto what has been said about indoor extraction!

I don't use a hot plate for that portion of the process, even outdoors, because the thermostat opens and closes a switch under power, which creates a spark. I have excellent results doing the initial evaporation using just hot tap water, which is of course spark free.
