Hey guys,

I used a dish washing cloth (one with the tough brittle side)
to scrub black mould off some of my old grow equipment that was neglected and thrown into a storage box.
The box must have had moisture because mould grew on the equipment.

I used Bleach. Straight bleach on some of the stuff.
I poured undiluted household bleach onto my dish cloth that i was using to scrub the equipment clean.
I also used an Industrial Gas Mask for Toxic chemicals while doing this.
Once i was done i left the cloth there - it had so much bleach on it that it should be ok to use to wipe down sinks and bathroom dustbins etc etc.

A few days later - the cleaning lady finds my nasty ass dish wash cloth and decides to return
it to the KITCHEN SINK and proceeds to wash all the dishes with said cloth.

i ate off of one of those dishes today. i used a fucking knife and fork as well (all washed with lovely black mould cleaning cloth)

am i dead + eta please?

consider that i poured undiluted bleach onto said cloth. im hoping that mould is dead dead.
But i mean - am i fucked?

You should go to the emergency room immediately so they can flush the sodium hypochlorite from your system. :bigjoint:

You'll be fine. Do you eat out at restaurants? I'd be more worried about what's on those dishes.

And there is no reason to use full strength bleach.

Disinfecting: Ratio: 1/4 (minimum) to 3/4 (maximum) cup of bleach to 1 gallon of cool water or 1 tablespoon (minimum) to 3 tablespoons (maximum) of bleach to 1 quart of water.

Bleach (usually 5.25% or 6.00%–6.15% sodium hypochlorite depending upon manufacturer) is usually diluted in water at 1:10 or 1:100. Approximate dilutions are 1-1/2 cups of bleach in a gallon of water for a 1:10 dilution (~6,000 ppm) or 1/4 cup of bleach in a gallon of water for a 1:100 dilution (~600 ppm).

its not the bleach im scared of - but the black mould.
but i mean - thats dead right? it got dead? the bleach made it dead?

household bleach turns into salts in a few hours once exposed to light. so its no longer harmful to you.

mate - the last thing i wana die from is 1) Shrooms 2) Mould.
i have a good feeling it would be really bad.

If you were not sure the bleach would kill the mold then why even use it? But yes straight bleach definitely killed that mold.

The reason you don't want to use straight bleach is because it's caustic and a bleach solution is just as effective.

its easy to say bleach kills mould and to read it online and then act according to that info.
its less easy when you just probably put the old cloth directly into your mouth. via a knife and fork and a dish or two.

science bro. the bleach kills everything. but how far are you willing to go to test that?

in the future when i tell people bleach kills stuff - ill know for damn sure. because not only did i read it online, but ive now tested this fact by ingestion.

You're fine. Even if the bleach didn't kill all the mold, it wouldn't hurt you unless you are allergic or immunodeficient. At most, it would have just been a small quantity of spores, and the worst that could have happened is that you might have been nauseous or had cramps and diarrhea. Eating it's not as bad as breathing it.

Ive started hiding things from the cleaning lady.
Ive also put very large warning labels on anything toxic.
If i fire her - the next one will just come with new problems.
