I actually totally forgot. I'm in Portland for the weekend.
After this weekend I have zero travel for the rest of the year and can do some great shows.
I would rather not wing it on the road...content suffers...I was not pleased with last weeks.

So my apologies to everyone. Maybe a mid week one to make up for it and not let the topics/questions build up for 2 weeks.

Greengenes707 my biggest question/concern is how far to keep my cxb3590s from the canopy. I see some quantum Flux meters In the 350$ range (ouch).

I have 8 cobs on a 12" x 36" heatsink, so they are much closer together than some others setups.

Do you recommend a budget meter?
And I hear up to 1500 is max light you would want on the canopy?

OK. Show how to calculate the size of heat sink required for both passive and active cooling. I want to build a lamp with 3 CXB3590, driven at about 40W ea.

This show is easy to sit through. Thanks so much to all for doing this on your own time!

Apogees are the budget. You can get the sensor for about 150$ and use it with a multi meter.

Talk about fans. Are ball bearings preferred when using them horizontally, as I've read? Recommendations? I couldn't believe the number of choices to make concerning a simple fan, while researching. More jargon and numbers to learn, too. sheesh.

look for a fan with ' fluid dynamic bearings ' that can be mounted anywhere vert/horzi
& the bearing are the longest lasting
ball bearing ;make noise after awhile & then fail
sleeved bearing ; just fail at any time

Can we talk about grounding the heat sink or electrical safety
