TAP water for RDWC question

I know this was discussed a lot but just wondering if anything changed ?
So my TAP readings are
PPM 200
PH 6.8

I know it has a chlorine and chloramine so i was thinking to let it outside for 24 hr most of chlorine will evaporate and use Campden tablets to remove chloramine

or maybe use something like this ?

Main reasons im asking
1. Filter above gives u 2GPM vs my RODI 5 GPH
2. no wasted water (My RODI wastes 3 gal to make 1 gallon of 0 PPM)
3. If u need to do emregency water change in my case it will take ~9 hr to make 45 gal water

That filter looks like the to filter I've got. I wonder how much it would take ppms down to. Probably well within satisfactory. Good find.

i might give it a try see how it goes and from description it looks like it removes almost all nasty stuff but leaves stuff like cal mag etc
or maybe mixing filtered tap with RODI to 80/20 might work also

Very intuitive. If you're gonna buy one that doesn't look bad.

that's what i found unusual is that it leaves alot of stuff behind as well. cal and mg are good but sodium isn't.

let us know how it works out. and how much does a filter change cost to do all 3?

Should be fine with just that filter to get that stuff out.
I would do some water testing to see what the rest is though.
There are some nice all in 1 strips that can give you a lot of info on whats in your water.

Not to jack the thread with me rookie questions. Whats the worse thing that would happen if you were to use tap water providing you were going to be runnin a sterile system..

hard water can cause other mineral issues.
Most city water is fine, but some are shit, well water is usually 50/50 from what ive seen.

not sure what exactly can happened but chlorine and chloramine will kill ur plants the rest renaming if its not used by trees might slow down the growth i guess

Most of us dont care about the small amount of chlorine in our tap. I fill my system straight from the garden hose a lot of the time.

I dont have chloramine was just talking about it vs chlorine.
My tap water is mostly snow melt that collects in natural reservoirs its very clean to start with so they dont go crazy treating it. On top of that my part of the city is on one of the newer water plants. I get a 60-80ppm from the tap.

I think your water will be fine after that filter.

u are absolutely right 5 stage replacement cost around 120 so as the new unit that comes with new filters :) (and god forbid if u have 7 stage then u looking at 140-160 in filter replacement )
But the idea of RO is that removes almost everything than adds back minerals and makes water alkaline
