Tamjam's 2nd grow Snow White 250w

Hi guys this is my second grow, some of you may have seen my last grow in my sig which was in the cfl forum, I have now moved into here as I will be using HID power, my last grow yielded me 38 grams of very nce weed and my target for this grow with 5 plants ( hopefully all 5 sprout !!! ) is 1.5 ounces per plant I feel confident here a little run down.

5 nirvana snow white feminised seeds all 5 have been germinating for 24 hours so far 3 are showing tap roots 2 have are opening still.

They are going to all get the uncle bens method of topping to get 4 main colas, as soon as they are ready to be topped I will be switching to 12/12.

They are going to be veged for a week under a 250w 6400k cfl and then a 250w hps for the rest of the grow.

I will post measurments of my box and pictures asap

hello again got a few more details here.

the grow box measurments are h 31" w 23" d 24" im hoping i can control the heat ok but if it is to hot i can leave the door open as its in my loft so doesnt matter.

i was very surprised as to the heat that kicks out of that 250w hps, plus on the ballast it says sodium/halide , so does that mean i can use both??? does it have to be a special mh bulb or just a normal one??

one seed has been planted as the tap root was an inch long but the others arent quite ready yet, but they should all be planted by the end of the night.

at the moment i have got the 250w cfl over the pots as i wasnt sure if the light from the hps is to intense for seedlings or not, any ideas on that please??

any way heres a few pics

Anyone got any ideas if the hps will be fine for them when they sprout or will it be to intense for them??

it may be a litttle too much for the tender seedlings,most people give em a week or so before exposure to the HID light

thats cool,thanx,but do you have cfl's or flouros to start those,I'd hate to hear they'd fried

yeah I've got loads of cfl supplys plus a couple 250w 6400k, that's what I have over the pots at the moment, I will use that then for a week or two.

Look near the end pages of the grow in my sig then you will see them

hello mog it would be nice to have you along for this, it's gonna be good.

I've been paying alot of attention to HID for the last week which means I havnt checked ur grow recently, I'm going there now

can turn the light off for a week to induce budding? I heard that i could i wanna kno if it true or not?

I've never heard of people doing that for a week?? Maybe 24 hours or 48 but not a week

3 day sin total darkness will do it,a week is pushing it....

hmm heard about the 72 hrs before harvest never to bud though, learn something new blah blah

ha now worries fella scirbed, mines still ticking along just waiting for some amber trichs, since stopping the ferts the yellowing is coming along nicely lol!!

cheers mate, surely your plant will be done within the next week, I would have cut it being the impatient person that I am lol

am I right saying that my 250w hps puts out 27000 lumens, when you measure lumens per sq ft do you only count what's under the reflector?

Would anyone mind working out my lumens per sqaure ft by the measurements in the second post please lots of rep here to share out

ha tell me about it - it has lost a bit of the undergrowth as I still haven't been able to score anything !!I think next Monday will be the last lot of photos of it as a whole plant . Regarding the maths all i can say is: does it make you blind for half an hour after looking at the bulb? If so me reckons that's enough lumens lol

lol thats what i was thinking!!!!!!!

and here is the first snow white to sprout!!! plus the other four were potted this morning and i can see two more seed heads popping through

let the grow begin!!!!

Good luck tam. Remember mate, the key to bigger yields is maturity of the plant, more so than the lighting i have always found, veg em up well and they'll give you that 1.5oz target ......... hows the heat from that HPS, you getting it dialled in ok?
