TAI STICKS - Home Made

Happy New Year Fellow Growers!

Do you remember Tai Sticks? We all thought they were dipped in Opium because they were sooo strong compared to what was available back in the day.

Anyway...thought it would be fun to bring 'em back. 11 mature Tai females. We went thru a tropical storm and power outage so the yield isn't what we had hoped but having fun.

Absolutely guessing on how to do it. We're taking stalk sticks, wrapping with yellow/orange Tai buds, abd tying with thread made from the stalks.

This may become Xmas presents in 2009 if we get it down. Pics below of plants in flowering stage, Tai assembly, and first stick.

Are we close?

Your feedback would be humbly appreciated

I remember them well from the seventies.
They weren't opiated but soaked in a special mixture of strong resin.
I read an article recently on how to do it and will post it when I find it.
Or try google, how to make thia sticks.

My mom was telling me about how she used to get knocked out from Thai Sticks back int he 70's. I kinda wish i was around back then, but with the growing knowledge of today!!

Thanks. Good advice...I'll google...of course the best authorities are probably on RIU :eyesmoke:...if they're not too loaded

That's right...it was the 70's. Lots of things were easier...and harder... then. I had friends who grew in Mendocino and brought trunk loads to the Bay Area. One guy had a "55 MPH - It's the Law" bumper sticker on his car...never, ever got pulled over :peace:

So that chick was your mom. She enjoyed the Thai stick a little too much if you know what I mean. Good times.

I've heard of tai sticks, never seen or smoked any. Whats the point of tying them to to the stick? Is it a preparation for dipping?

same here! I have heard of them, but never smoked one, or seen one, or known anybody that has smoked one. Just word of mouth and movies of course. Maybe if sombody knows how or can find out how they should post a tutorial, i am interested! :leaf:

there was a artical a few years back in high times showing how they did it and yeah they get dipped in some hash oil:)

Good question. I'm thinking it was a "product packaging" thing too. It was surprising how much we wrapped around the sticks. It's so sticky we just pressed and wrapped the string...a little more than 2 eighths...length of sticks about 5 inches.

I don't know if they really were dipped or not. Pot just wasn't all that sticky in the 70's...not like today.

Dang your bringing back memories. I was lucky to score a thai stick back in the late 70's and it sure was something different. Shit, I havent even thought about them forever. I hope spike finds the article :hump:

pretty much they were skewered on stems and string found in the stalk of the plant were then used to tie the marijuana to the stem and hold it in place and they can also be tied around bamboo sticks with a piece of string known as a rasta hair and then you dip it in your oil and let the bud soak it up lol:)

Tai Sticks OMG I think I am having a flash back.

I remember them fondly.

I was chatting with my son about the good ole days and the first time I smoked green pot that was not homegrown. Remember the days when pot was either brown, red, or gold? It was Maui Wowie and so green it looked like it would glow in the dark. I think that was around 1978.

Now my hubby and I are looking thru some old polaroids trying to find the picture of the Tai stick that covered a dinner plate. Remember Polaroid cameras? I guess I am really showing my age now.

HA weird.... one of the first discussions my freind and i both had with our mothers about smoking...they both asked if there were still thai sticks around hahahah

i did try making super bud with some hashoil desolved into everclear grain alcahol, then used an eye dropper to put a few drops on the bud a day and let it out to dry... wonder if you could do this on a larger scale...

looks great man! keep us updated.. lets bring back the thai stick

they still make them in cambodia but theres no need to ship it accross country on the large scale that it use to be on and they use thai plants to for how it grows i was reading somthing somewhere about that.

We used to smoke it with tobacco, break off about 1 cm or 1/2 an inch, mix it and roll a joint.
That would get several people whacked.
