I own the 6 and 8 bulb units. They work great.

The 8 bulb is 432 watts and it gets hot.

I plan on getting some of those. I got to see some in action in a hydro shop and they look like a good lamp.
I was looking at the two bulb 110w for raising 25 seedlings enough to put em outside.

I don't think that's enough.

If nothing else get that and then go to Walmart and get two shop lights. They got 4ft 2 bulb t8 for $9.99.

Get two of those and put one on each side of the t5.

How much is the two bulbt5?

Heck spend fourth to fifty and get four or five shop lights. They would work fine for what you want to do.

How many bulbs? How big of a space?

T5ho gets hot.

My cab is 2x4x6. That's an oven.

I also killed some seedlings because of what I read online. I've read many times if your hand is OK under the light then the plants will be OK. Bull shit!

Maybe one or two bulbs. Not 8 that are double stacked. My fixture has 8 bulb in the same size others put 4. It will burn new growth less than about 8 inches. It needs to be over a foot away for young plants.
I run 4 54w and in a pretty small veg area and honestly they get hot yes but unless they touch the bulb they've been ok. I don't recommend keeping them inches away though. I actually just topped one of my tall pheno's and it was three inches away and not burnt at all. It's in the clone room.

No wallmart where I am unfortunately. Nor anywhere that sells lights. I'm rurally located.

Only want them to get to about 4-6 inchs tall.
The one in looking at is two bulbs 55w each.

You may get some plants that don't get enough light and may stretch if trying to get 25 under it. A 4 tube may be better. Probably not much more than a two is it?

No, the same price more or less. I was more asking if the wattage would be enough.
I think the wattage is less for 4, 96w I believe.

If not, ill split them into two groups.

T5 HO 4' tubes are 54w and 2 would be enough light I would think but it's trying to get them all evenly spaced with coverage.

Wow so much intrest in t5's. Has anyone run a cool white against a grolux and seen like i have that plants prefer the cool white. My cool whites are sylvania 865 or 6500k and my groluxs have no rating but are purple when on?

The type of tube seems important and white light flourescents seem to do better than groluxs in my veg box.

Anyone know how hot a 3 bulb t5(2 ft) will run in a closet with the door shut? I only plan on vegging 1 or 2 plants at a time so I really don't need much light just wondering how much heat these bulbs have.

I found a 4 x 54w t5 for $40 more, so I'm going with that :) I know that will work.

So have we decided what the best distance to hang them are?
