My buds seem to have less hair when I wash them and they look cleaner to me(shrug). And this is just my limited experience, but the washed buds seem to make me cough less. Not sure though.
I'm also not filtering my air that goes into the grow room. Technically the furnace filter is cleaning the air but there is still a lot of dirt/hair buildup over the course of a grow.

Ok I get it lol. Sorry If I came off brash or whatever. I just like understanding things lol and I TOTALLY get that. U spend all that time growing it and u want it clean. I gotcha man and I hear trichomes cause water to kind of roll right off. Kind of like duck feathers or waterproof boots. Now I can finally ask someone if that's true. If it is, thats pretty damn cool. It would make sense as a measure to help against too much rain in nature

My general coco method that works, but I"m still evolving!
Feeding light, but more often. Average 1.4EC / 700PPM (500)
The size/root maturity of the plants above, I would probably be feeding them twice a day, like 15-seconds-ish, but not to runoff so as to encourage root development. Just a light douche for fresh oxygen and nutes - no dry spots - evenly wet/saturated. Feeding low ec, not letting them dry, no risk of salt buildup for the approx 2 weeks of this stage.
Multi-feeding 3+ times a day is for after the roots are mature - rootbound and air pruning.
Airflow, Room temps and RH are other variables that affect pot drying and feeding.

Ya I don't like going over 1.4EC either. Plants always seem happy at that EC and I don't have to be as diligent with checking runoff.
I just transplanted these and my strategy was going to water ever other day for maybe a week. But I wasn't really sure. I'll give your strategy some thought though. I'm sure its better, just haven't done it that way before.

I forgot to mention, this run I didn't wash my sample buds. And there definitely was a difference in smell between the wash buds and non washed. The non washed smelled better and like it did before I chopped it.
The washed buds didn't smell bad but these buds had a sweet candy smell to them. And it was disappointing, but its better than dog hair. Next time I'm going to change water after every plant. The water was green when I dumped it and I hope fresh water will help.

This is worth a peek...


Oh ya. If a cup or pot stays wet....for me its a warning sign. More feeding usually made things worse.
I blame it on a lousy root system....or myself. Lol

Changing the water might help for sure. I also had a thought about the water temperature and if that would matter. Like cold vs room temp. I think too cold would run the risk of making the trichs brittle and snap off easy by simply brushing it against anything . Just a thought but I wonder if it would make any difference in the smell. Like will the cold kind of preserve the terps during that rinsing moment? Interesting

Same.

I do vary the feed duration. For example..

40 seconds first feeding. Minimal runoff.

20 seconds 2nd feeding. Almost runoff.

20 seconds 3rd feeding. Almost runoff.

40 seconds last feeding. More runoff than first feeding.

I start out at .8 EC. Which is 1/4 strength mix plus my tap water EC of .3
Usually I'm too lazy to increment up 100 ppm's at this stage so I'm currently feeding a 1/2 strength mix (1.2 EC).

Oh, I stopped using Epsom salts and everything is working out fine. Kind of funny it was never needed. Although Jacks 3-2 isn't as catchy as Jacks 3-2-1

Ca/Mg ppm bumped up a little most recently. Have signs of mg def on a couple.

These are getting it twice a day. (The first week or two after sprout, it's Ec .8, then ramp up as long as they don't complain.)

Not much but I have seen it done and i just do not understand for the life of my why someone would spend all that time growing just to dip em in water and get bud rot or something a grower wouldn't want. If it’s an outdoor crop it’s a must! If you have a sterile indoor grow room, probably not necessary! If you have ladybugs, for example, washing might not be a bad idea.

You ever heard of water curing? Washing them most give them a slight water curing effect.

Variety is always nice but man getting nutrients right when you have a large variety can be really fucking hard.

I got my light rig cleaned up with some plastic conduit. Its a little bit safer and looks cleaner.
I accidently had my lights at max power for two days so the plants go a little crispy. Was having trouble getting the one in the corner to recover so I added some black material to block some of the light. That corner has always gotten more light than the rest and I'm tired of fusing with it. A better solution would be to replace the cloth drape with mylar but I don't think I'm going to do it.

Hard to tell by pics whats up with the coco.

I might stop watering them for a day or so until they dryback and perk up. For me, no multifeeds until plants are well rooted. Ideally rootbound with a nice fabric root beard.
