Switching back to 315w CMH!

Hey guys, fairly new grower here. With Fall (hopefully) around the corner, I think it's time I gave my CMH fixture another try. Last time around, day temps were peaking in the 90s so I ended up getting quite a bit of foxtailing, and it was also an autoflower grow so those 17-18 hrs of light really brought the heat. Not a smart way to start my Summer grow season but whatever, lol.

I just finished a run using LED quantum board lighting and it was great. Too easy, even. Results were great, can't complain. OOOPS accidentally posted before done, will finish post later my bad. ..

Anyways here's the newest run:

Two ThugPug Peanut Butter Breath clones and a Gator Breath from seed in front.

The fixture holds two 315w CMH bulbs but I'm only running one bulb due to the heat. Fixture was lowered after i took the pic, about 24" from the top of the shortest plant.

Was going to say that light is very high....

But you have since lowered it. Very cool. I'm here for the show :blsmoke:
Yeah honestly I'm still trying to figure out proper distance with this light. The info with the fixture didn't specify nor did the bulb(s), unlike my previous LED fixtures which had distance in the pamphlet, online in like a million places, some random person even came to my door and was like "remember, LED fixtures are 12 to 18 inches from canopy in flower" ok that was a lie, but still. ... I'm just gona watch the top leaves over the next several days

If you get a cord for that balast and get it out of the tent it should help.

Not bad for a fairly new grower.

I run four 630 CMH and they do run a little hot, but I love the mixed spectrum blended with my HIDs
I have a mini split for environmental control but it barely kept up due the intense heat we've had this summer. Right now I'm considering a few LEDs to replace the 1ks but I want keep the CHMs.

Also, keep in mind that PPB, due its genetic, doesnt like intense direct light. Its common with most cookies and polyhybrid cookie crosses.

what are par readings

I love both LEDs and CMH, I'm not entirely sold on either just yet-certainly, the LED appears to be yielding more, but I'm not sure the CMH quality is there, we'll see. You can't beat CMH light in the winter, it feels so nice to bask in it like a lizard when it's snowing out.

Adding a fan + cracking a bottom vent on the tent during lights on. This is higher than I'd like but fuck it, I can deal with this. I think I'll keep the CMH going.

Love the Hellcat Records sticker. Offshoot of Epitaph. Loving it.
Since this is your thread, I'll show you this I just noticed the other day. I got this shirt back in Hollywood before the Offspring Smash album came out, but after the Ignition album came out. I just noticed the guitarist on the right of the singer is wearing my shirt. Sorry, the shirt needs a washing, lol.
