SweetLeaf's 240W Blackstar LED Autoflower Grow

Hey guys, I will be growing with a 240w Blackstar LED in a small grow cab. I will be growing 2 Himalaya Blue Diesel autoflowers . The first seed i threw in the soil and germed that way and a week later i did the paper towel method and then put it in a solo cup with some Fox Farm's Ocean Forest. I previously grew with a 600w HPS so I know the benefits of HPS lighting but I was interested in LED's and wanted to give them a shot in a small cab. The cab is about 17x20 and 4ft tall. Commentary is welcome.... as long as its not LED bashing because I don't care to hear. Pics to follow

Funny enough, I just ordered a Blackstar 240w as well (closet grow; away from my HID room) and was thinking about HBD seeds as well. I'm definitely going to keep track of this one!

Your cab is about the same footprint as mine 16x22, I just order a 240 myself to upgrade or "side" grade my 150 hps. I'll check back!

Sorry for not updating I've been quite busy. The box is working out wonderful.. The plants are maturing very quickly too. I left them for the weekend and they did fine i just made sure to water them before I left.

The First pic is the first HBD when it was just above soil. The 2nd pic is of the older HBD in its first couple days above soil. The 3rd pic is of the HBD that was germed after the first one (this one i germed in a paper towel before i put it in a solo cup). The last two pics are from today and are of the two HBD's together and the last pic is a solo shot of the older HBD. I will be posting more pics now as the plants are getting bigger.. it was kind of boring when they were so small. I haven't given them any nutes yet, they are planted in FFOF soil so i think that will be good for now. This is day 12 for the older HBD and the younger one is about 7 days old.

Also, if someone could help me out with the pic embedding so people can see a preview of the thumbnail and not just the Attachment and number. Sorry in advance for being so slow

I always post pics under the Go advanced button for starters. You click the little paperclip then select and upload your files when its finished hit done. Then click the little arrow next to the paperclip and you can put them in as you choose or just go to the bottom and hit link all or whatever it is.

I just got my 240 today and its in the cab. I'll be doing a comparison of sorts to a 150 hps, its the 3rd link in my sig.

Ok, thanks for the help. Heres pics of the bigger HBD from yesterday, I will take more pics today and post them later. The leaves are curled down in these pics and I think it was caused by the fan being too close because i moved the fan away and they perked right back up over night.

Here are some pics that I took today, Day 14 for the bigger one and the younger one is probably around Day 9 . I realized in the pic that the bigger HBD still has its fan leaves curled down a little, does this look alright or do i need to adjust something? Otherwise they both look pretty healthy. If anyone with experience growing the Himalaya Blue Diesel could let me know when i can expect it to start flowering, I'd appreciate it. Thanks RIU :leaf:

Couple pics your leaves look like they have dark patches, like an excess of nitrogen. Are you putting nutes in them already?

Well I'd certainly stick with just water for a good while then. Just went back and read that you mentioned that... I hate when people ask me shit I've already stated lol sorry for that. But yeah ffof is pretty hot so youre good for awhile there.

Haha, no worries buddy. I appreciate you checking out the journal. No one else seems that interested, I don't know if its because of the LED or not but I am obviously just posting for others to see as I looked at as many journals as I could before acquiring the HBD seeds or the Blackstar led. Anyways good luck with your grow as well

What's up guys, I've had a little experience with the new blackstars, what's your canopy distance? Everything looks set for a nice auto flower!

Its a lonely world in the RUI journals sometimes. Especially in the beginning, people want bud porn and yield numbers and thats about it LOL. Im subbed to yours at least, we have the same light and damn near same space.

Have a little Valentines Day update for the community so here it goes...

Everything's going well so far.. I've noticed the LED is producing a ton of bud sites on the bigger plant and also very compact growth. I have been keeping the light pretty close at about 10 inches away from the canopy. The bigger one is at day 19 and things are starting to get a little stanky. Can't wait until they start budding. I haven't given them any nutes so far and I am wondering if i should start feeding at least the older one.. what does RIU think?

If it ain't broke don't fix it! Looks like they're getting all they need from the soil still. I'd wait longer, or even till you get the first signs of a deficiency.

You got a point there !! Ya i will wait a little longer. I should be seeing the one start to flower in the next couple of days hopefully. Crossing my fingers that they autoflower, don't think this strain has many problems with that. I will keep updating, hopefully will get some more interest in this journal once they start budding out.

Little update here DAY 21 and the other is about a week younger... I think i was getting a little aggressive on how close i was keeping the LED to the bigger one. I raised the light up for both of them a couple inches. The bigger plant looks to be a little bleached as you can see in the pictures, or maybes its a nute deficiency I'm not sure. What do you guys think? The smaller one looks very healthy, i noticed they look very different must be some traits of the blue in one and diesel in the other coming out. Looks like the big one will start budding very soon!
