Survival growing through the "Great Depression"

Ok there are some people on this board who would never think of selling marijuana for profit but let's look at this all hypothetically speaking. Let's just say that the unemployment rate reaches 35%, you lose your job, you have a mortgage, a car payment and you don't want to live in a box... growing hoochie for profit doesn't sound like a bad idea then.

If you lost a 50 k a year job you would have to make approximatly $35,000 in cash to equal that job, figuring 25% tax. That 35 k a year breaks down to 673 a week you need to sell in smoke. Ok 673 might be a big figure to sell in a week, so you go out and take a job that normally wouldn't. You could also barter with your weed and trade a bud for a loaf of bread.

if that were the case then yes i would definitely be selling. i mean, if you know the right people and all its not that big of a deal. especially if you have the means and space to grow a large amount.

Do you know me ? LOL

Let's look at the positives about "you" selling weed.

Mexican drug gangs arn't cutting off the heads of Tijuana police chiefs over your "drug dollar".
Quality goes way up for the consumer.
"you" don't put crap in the weed to spike it's appeal or that will hurt someone.
the money "you" make off of the weed you spend in your local economy creating jobs
The man, the banker, still gets his mortgage and your home doesn't become a casualty of the forclosure crisis.

Stocks are down. Gold is down. Home values are down. Even oil is down.
But quality weed is in demand. $300 to $400 per O at wholesale. And in my opinion will continue to go up. Hypothetically, to make and move 10K
per month would be no problem.

this is bad times guys,, Im starting to see more and more people out in public in bad moods.... especially on the roads you can tell there pissed by there driving..

I'm always driving around like Gene Hackman in The French Connection--has nothing to do with emotions. I just want to get from point A to B as fast as possible.

i second that.... i am always in a hurry, and have a heavy foot... my wife hates my driving; trusts it completely, but hates it nonetheless... says its "jerky"

and the only time i tend to slow it down is when i am completely frustrated with other drivers...

I'm a grower also, and I'm already seeing some decline in my sales.
I've got people who were buying an oz./week and have dropped to a
1/2 to a 1/4/week.
I've even dropped my prices a little bit.

Times are tough for everyone.

Would you be ok telling the judge this if it goes wrong for me, like on my behalf ? lol

I noticed my buddies have been working on getting the pricing lower. It sucks, you go out there and get the very best strains and everyone still wants to spend $150.00 for an oz. I even used the motorcycle for delivery because the gas saving, also you could smoke cops if you had to leave in a hurry.

Yesterday I went to deliver a small package to my friend. As I left his neighborhood I noticed a shit load of cop cars. Someone had just robbed the bank and they were sealing up the block trying to catch this guy on foot. People are robbing banks to survive but whose picture is being shown on the news, the weed grower or the bank robber? Ok both pictures would be on the news, but the grower has a better shot at anonymity.

I refuse to be scared about this economy. If you can grow, you can eat, and then you can smoke.

Or you could make a salad out of fresh green, put on Neuman's best salad dressing, gotta get your greens, good for the digestive system.

OK a few months have passed since I started this post. Unemployment is up, jobs are scarce (especially for non career people), and crime is up. I hope we did not lose a couple of RIU members to the homeless shelters or worse the street. I personally turbo charged my grow (thanks stinkbud) and I'm confident that I my weed needs are covered (and possibly the needs of a few close friends). CNBC just did a special on marijuana in California, your neighbor the one you would never suspect has some ballasts humming, do you? I suspect this could be a very tough few years for the economy, what's your plan?

I need to pay child support and cant even find a job. Lost mine due to the winter. I was landscaping all summer. Thinking of doing a huge veggie garden this summer to save some cash.

But don't really know if I have the money/time to do an outdoor grow. This year was supposed to be the year for me to do a huge outdoor crop. Reallly been thinking about doing it for money but im not sure the profit is worth the risk for me. Seeing im dealing with a crazy ex and having to pay 50 bucks a month im so fucked atm:cuss::cuss:

Sorry to hear about your situation. Lots of pain out there right now. I think there will be lots of people trying to grow outside when Spring comes. good luck
