Supplementing HPS with LED

@salmonetin @Abiqua
How close can I get these side lights to the plants?

Probably anywhere from 2-4" away....low wattage intensity will allow you to almost touch in reality....but this also keeps down the light spread and concentrates light only around the emitter in Very close situations...allowing some room between plant and emitter will allow more photons to potentially penetrate more evenly....

This is the current set up..
Im thinking 2 layer (one lower/one upper) LED strips on the left and back wall!

Also in the pic the led light looks really far but its actually only like 20 in

If you use a COB with 60 degree glass lens you could project the light onto the canopy from a fair distance with very little lateral loss and without blocking the HID light. The lens has a tight cutoff so you can aim them precisely to cover the canopy. You could get very high efficiency and output with something like the CXB3070 5000K BD bin at 1.4A (I think scotch found those somewhere)

@Zzyphr Im not professional but from my research unless you add a good amount more LED turning down the HPS may hurt your yield.. I think at that point you would have to get a pretty decent size LED grow light to make up for the HPS?
Someone correct me if I'm wrong![/QUOTE]
UA, thanks for the comment/confirm. Was kinda expected. Seeing some of the other posts, I've got some learnin' to do.
