Super Stealth Speaker Box Bulid

well did some remodeling, that main power strip is up on the wall so in case of any spills it wont get wet. i ended up trying to hook this pvc duct idea and realized after testing the airflow that something had to be seriously wrong in or on the box. the fan moves a lotttt of air standing alone so whats causing it to loose so much power when hooked to the box. remember a few pages ago when i added that mesh to cover up the ports? well this mesh DESTROYS the airflow i removed both pieces and it made a huge difference just one 80mm fan is pulling in a pushing air out more than all 3 fans combined did. i put a pvc elbow to work as a light trap and it really didnt do to much so im going to add another one. im shocked that the mesh was the real problem here.
And the mesh is the culprit, a-ha!

Black pvc elbows make great light traps and will work extremely well if you still plan to cover the front+speakers with fabric.

Moving the powerstrip was a good call.

Keep us posted on those temps, I can't wait to see pics of some plants in there. :weed:

The extra lights look good, so does the powerstrip.

I'm stoked. Are you ready to get growing?

on each side wall there a jack that distributes the power to each speaker at 8ohms, the jack has pretty much to basic red and black speaker wires that lead to my stereo system. the stereo has a built in amp that powers the speakers, most home stereos do these days

Thanks for the guide man, it was easy to understand and a great help. I'm getting these fans for my case (front & rear 120mm + a 250mm side) in the hope that they will be quieter than the case stock fans, as I'm aiming for a super stealth box to get a lot of use out of, ill just stick these into a multiplug, what do you think? :)

If your looking for quiet fans, I use Gentle Typhoon, they work well and are pretty quiet.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will look into these for a rubbermaid grow box I may build in the future, Ive got a pre-built PC case on its way with 2x90 and 1x80 Building wasn't suitable for me right now though I would love to build my own.

Hey Mr Skunky, how come u decided to go with cfl instead of a ufo led grow light. would have def dealt with the temp problem and u could have had more space. U can supplement with mh light the last two weeks to increase potency. but i like this setup. Im going to use s similiar but use leds. ill make a grow journal.

Dude this is pretty amazing. I WISH i had half the carpenter skills you had!!!!

BTW, So how are you securing the wood panel to the "roof"? it looks like it is nailed in, but how exactly is the power strip secured to the wood panel?! This has been a mystery to me for eons. TIA!!

Power strip was gorilla glued then clamped to the smaller piece of board. And I then just screwed 4 screws through that board into the ceiling. Worked like a charm

Well simply the ufos were to expensive for a first grow for me. I ended up getting temps under control pretty easily. I chose cfls though because ive seen some nice results, but overall just the price! I like how I can custom the amount of bulbs, wattage, distance and color so easily. I plan on adding T5HOs to the sides for even better lighting. That'll come round when I get more cash to have some fun with. But for now got bills to pay

Ok - so maybe you can answer this. I see this all the tim ein the PC grows. are they doing the same thing? Except, there is not board on a PC tower to screw that stuff into without it going through the metal. I wonder if they are using gorilla glue only? This is another thing that perplexes me. Thanks for all your help. I got some supplies at Homo depot and will update on the progress soon.
