Perpetual Hydro Compact Stealth System Questions

Hey all,

I’m a complete noob, so please take it easy on me.

I’m in the process of spec’ing out a system that I hope will serve me well... I plan to build a cloner box with an HLG 65 (Maybe HLG 100?) using a superponics 14 to get me started from seed (hopefully clones before long!)

I was hoping to have enough light/space in my cloner box to at least sex my seedlings/clones. I’d really like to be able to almost completely veg them in it, but I guess that might be pushing it? How much space would I need for each of those scenarios? They say the supercloner 14 can grow them to 2 ft... I’m suspicious but optimistic if I can weed out the males and focus on maybe 4 healthy girls?

My goal is to supplement the cloner box with a second box that is quite a bit bigger that I can flower in. I was hoping a couple (hotter) HLG boards with a superponics 8 system would work for me. I wouldn’t use all 8 of the pots of this system, probably only 4 to start with each cycle.

I know supercloset sucks, but how do people like the supercloner 14 and the superponics 8? I like that they are both white. it seems like every other system out there is black.

The only other system I’m seeing that really caught my eye is the current culture solo pro, which I would order with the 4 pot lid most likely. I like that this reservoir isn’t supercloset, it’s white, it looks way better built, it looks like it drains much easier, it’s probably longer lasting than the superponics 8... but it’s huge. It would make me slightly reconsider the dimensions that I imagined for my flowering box. I really think it might be overkill for my intentions.

I will be cultivating Hindu Kush and Syrian landrace seeds to start off with. This stuff is my medicine and I’m so tired of getting screwed by the illegal local market. These plants are known to be pretty short and stocky. What dimensions would you pick for your two boxes if you had to compromise by only using two stealth boxes? Should I buy more light than I need for the cloner box so I can veg in it? Should I just go with the HLG 65 and be content with the results?

I’ll be growing reg photoperiods. I was thinking if I started with around 10 seeds in the cloner box that should hopefully allow me to get 4 solid females to move over and flower. That’s kind of the perpetual cycle I had in mind. Realistically, I could probably get as much of a yield in my confined space with only 2 well-trained plants. That’s not lost on me.

One of my specific noob questions is regarding the size differences of the pots. If I start with the 2” pots of the supercloner I’m kinda stuck with them, right? I’d basically have to transplant the 2” pot into the 5” pots of the superponics 8 with some clay pebbles or something, which seems like it would be making things unnecessarily difficult for the roots, right?

Also, surely I don’t need a 6” in-line fan for the cloner box? What should I do? Can anyone point me to a smaller setup that is well-liked? The fans/ducting/charcoal filters I understand are quite important. I honestly haven’t really started to spec these components out. I would greatly appreciate some suggestions to look at for these components. I will also need to filter the intake on my flowering box, as we have a couple hairy monster-dogs running around the house full time.

Anyways, these are a lot of my major concerns right now. If any of y’all could offer some guidance it would be greatly appreciated. The cool thing is that as of right now I haven’t bought any equipment, so I’m totally open to any advice you have. I’m also definitely on a budget though, which is why I’ve decided to try to compromise with a two box system. I could imagine 3 boxes being a lot easier to work with.

Where am I screwing up on my vision so far? Thank y’all!
