Alright I got a question about this super soil I read about in the March issue of High Times. The article is called Subcool's super soil. I was wondering if I could start my germinated seeds in this??

Subcool has a sub-forum, under "Organics" here at RIU.. iirc the supersoil is only for well established plants, and would burn a young plant - check out the forum tho - plenty of info there

what if i poot base soil on top of it the let the roots seep down into the super soil??

I wouldn’t take the gamble. Can you be sure how deep your roots will grow before your plants reach an age were they can take the nutes?

Personally I do not like any soil with nutes in it. I prefer to know what plants are being fed and when and in what amounts and if you have soil with nutes in it how do you really know what they are getting or not and if you want to supplement them with other nutes how can you be sure what is the correct or safe amount of any certain type to add at any stage of growth?

While I seldom grow now I used to grow a lot and for years I have grown in something that I have had people who for the most part really knew what they were talking about say that I cannot use what I use, that it is to acidic, that it will kill the plants, that it will never allow good vigorous growth and it will not produce quality bud no matter what I did.

What I have used is pine bark, the same pine bark that we use at our nursery. We buy it by the dump truck load and we test its pH level and adjust it to what it needs to be and we use it for every type of tree and bush we grow regardless of what special needs they may have and we have had tremendous success and so do I using pine bark.

It is tiny bits, the largest at times maybe being as big as a dime but normally it is anything from about one quarter of that size down to what by looking at it appears to be soil. It has tremendous drainage and air transfer and no matter if it is wet or dry it never packs together and gets hard and the plant’s roots will cut through it like a hot knife through warm butter on a hot Alabama night.

I have never had the slightest problem using it and instead had just the opposite, that being tremendous success but still people who for the most part seem to know what they are talking about when it comes to growing have told me it is worthless, it is bad, it will not work, it will kill the plants, it will hinder growth, it will not grow quality bud. But they have all been wrong.

There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy is my usual reply though now and then I will simply say there is more than one way to skin a cat, just ask anyone who works at a Chinese restaurant.
