Super Soil Nute lockout or toxicity

I have started another thread that resulted in the diagnosis of my issue, which game to too much nitrogen. The problem is, i don't fert. I use TGAs bagged soil, cut with 10 bags of roots organics, exactly how the instructions, AND exactly how thousands of people do it. In my pots, i use 1/4 Super Soil, 3/4 roots organic.

Test results for that conclusion:20150118_203519.jpg Shows off-the-chart nitrogen.

Did a soil ph run off today.

Water that went in: 20150122_233509.jpg

Run-off: 1 of 2 20150122_233425.jpg

Run-off: 2 of 2 20150122_233904.jpg

So, is this nitrogen toxicity as well as lockout? What do i do from here? I think what happened is i mixed too much super soil in....Thats what i have to assume, but i didnt use much!!!

I haven't messed with supersoil. What I would do though is water with 3 times the volume of soil (3 gal. water to 1 gal. of dirt), with a generous helping of dolomite lime scratched in and watered in. I would also use humic acid with that last bit of water to help chelate the elements in the soil. I would then wait until they start to dry out and perk back up, at which point I would foliar feed a weak dose of ferts. Then water with no ferts and some hygrozyme or kelp. I would also make up a good aerated tea with lots of beneficials. Hopefully the flush took care of excess water soluble ferts. Time will tell, good luck.

Yea honestly i should NEVER have listened to my fucking local hydroshop guy....Sorry for my language, but i truly believe this is his fault. Steering me in the direction of the General Hydroponics GO-BOX tea, instead of my naturual EWC and molasses aerated route. Good thing it was only 50 bucks....I strongly feel this is the reason why all this is happening. SMH

So should i continue to water/flush with 6.4 PH water? They are in 3 gallon pots so 9 gallons per plant is what you are saying.

As far as the tea is concerned. I think ill just go back to the EWC/molasses. There isn't a reason for me to use all this extra shit when the soil is supposed to have it actively ready. Just another amateur mistake.

Thanks for the response i really appreciate it!!!

You using RO water? I have pushed the nitrogen on plants and it seems like yours would be darker if too much nitrogen. Don't know much about GO-Box tea, on second glance at photos, possible cal/mag issues? If that soil's got a low ph, you'd see multiple issues related to lock-out, but if you're using RO water, then you'd want to get some cal/mag. I think roots is heavy on the coco which is known for needing cal/mag added. Sorry if I steered ya wrong, it's been a long day for me.

Hey no problem at all. Yea i use RO water with 15 PPM, i was just under the impression that i wouldnt need to CAL/MAG with this kind of highly amended soil, but i SURE do have it on hand. So, should i try to run the cal/mag first and see if it slows down. Cal/mag with 6.4 PH water that is.

Yeah I would try that. Most water has enough calcium and magnesium, but RO has no minerals. Your supersoil sounds pretty diluted with the roots, but your runoff ph indicates low soil ph too. Just looked at your other post, did you let that super soil sit for the right amount of time?

Yea it "cooked" for about 45-50 days.

I would think something in the water, I don't know, maybe the water is killing the "super" in the soil. Super soil kicks ass...

I have successful grows with this method under my belt. There is literally nothing in the water....its a brand new 3 stage RO filter.

Well now i am starting to see signs of cal-mag deficiency. I cal-maged full strength tonight, we will see if it slows down.

It has been a long, frustrating week i'll tell ya what!

Organic calmag I hope?

When I looked at the pics I initially though mag. Interveinal chlorosis of the fan leaves coming off the mainstem in the middle of the plant screams mag to me, but I'm still new to diagnosing.

I'm currently using a living organic soil and RO water and I'm having calmag issues as well.

Hope it gets fixed soon!

I ran a batch of amended supersoil or TLO soil last year and it came out way too hot on nitrogen, just like yours. I did not test it until my plants showed the signs of too much nitrogen. My best guess is that I did not wet it enough for composting. I am going to re-wet and hit it with some EWC tea and let it cook for a couple more months and see if that takes the edge off. Besides recomposting the soil, I'm not sure what else you can do.

organic cal-mag yes. I started the 5 week treatment and after about 3 days they perked right back up. ONCE and awhile ill get a few yellow/burnt leaves here and there, nothing serious. They are in flower now :)))
