Sunshine Mix #4 & or Pro Mix With Myco ? by a newb

Since this forum is so massive with it's info I though I would ask here. Is here anything wrong or bad about using just Sunshine Mix #4 or Pro Mix out of the bag? I will use RO water and Advanced Nutrients or General Hydroponics Floro series or Dyna-Gro. That is all I would use to start. Would this give me some pretty good results? I will use good lights, maybe CO2, good air ventings and all the other things as I learn them from you masters.

Please give any and all and as much advice as you want and can and thank you in advanced & keep on growing.:leaf:

I grew in pure coco for close to a year, my increase in growth over my home blended soil mix was pretty impressive back then. Then I found that a mix of coco coir, perlite, and peat moss blew my pure coco grows out of the water. A really good Sunshine product that meats all of my needs is Sunshines Advanced Ultra Coir. It's gravy right out of the bag! I knew I was in love when I was able to reach into the bag and grab a handful the size of a 1gal. container and as fluffy as it was, it all stayed together and you could just see the richness qualities it holds. Maybe it's just been my experience but I have had easily a 30% increase in all areas of growth from pre veg to harvest. Good luck with which ever route you choose my friend!

sunshine mix #4 and pro mix are pretty much the same medium.
in my opion, the best mix around is 1 3.8 bail of sunshine #4 mixed with 2 bags of light warrior.
huge yields come off this mix if fed corectly.
dont know if dyna gro is better than house and garden, but house and garden will dust advanced nutes.

I dont think pics would really show the difference, especially with my camera. The plants just seem to be healthier, happier, more vibrant.
And the only real comparison I have yield wise is green, sativa leaning plushberry that was grown in sunshine mix (1 topping) yielded 1 3/4 oz. After I ran out of sunshine mix I switched to happy frog, grew the plush in it and yielded 2.5 oz. More crystal production and bigger yields in the happy frog. I also had a killing field in the same batch that yielded 4.5 oz (1 topping).
I have a batch going now (2nd in happy frog) and once again I am seeing the same thing with it. My buddy grower switched to happy frog from the soil he was using (fafard) and he is amazed at how healthy and vigorous his plants are growing as well. We have discussed if its the soil making a difference and we both feel it is definitely a contributing factor if not the main factor.

Yes it is a soilless mix.. Ok Ill show some pics that I have, but since I wasnt taking pics at the time to point out differences, its not going to show anything.

This was my killing fields. It grew so tall that in the picture in the box you cant even see the main cola that you see in my hand in the other picture. It out grew my box, I had to cut it out when the time came to harvest.

Bro, I dont know what else to tell you. Those in the 2nd posts were in sunshine mix #4. You arent going to be able to see a difference in those pictures. I didnt take pictures to compare the differences. I took bud shots from time to time. Once again, all I can tell you is to me I feel there is a difference and my preferance is Happy Frog and I wont go back to sunshine mix #4.

Here is a pic I just went and snapped of my almost empty bags of sunshine mix 4 and happy frogs.

You should try 60% OceanForest, 40% Happy Frog, a generous amount of Perlite to the mix and some dolomite lime. I had AWESOME results with this compared to a straight Happy Frog grow. Even though the HF did ok, the ladder is much more productive.

I grow with Pro mix and have been for 2 years now and wont use anything else. I take 2 bales of promix and 5 lbs Osmokote fertilizer and 2 bags of water crystals and mix them all together. I grow indoors and out. I dont have to touch my plants with nutes until flowering stage and water way less often indoors and almost never outdoors until flowering time. It is slow release and never burns a thing on me. On my outdoor plants I top dress with some worm castings and then a ring of sand to keep slugs off my plants. Works great for me, good luck.

Damn I love that one with your hand in there! What kind of lights?

This thread should be called personal preference.....this guy that says he got way more using other mix rather than sunshine, is a joke.....too many variables my friend.....just go with either.....they will both work...I use sunshine and it gives me a half ounce more per plant!!! Now run out and buy it!!!! lol
