Sunshine Advanced Mix #4

Hey RIU this is gonna be my first grow, all Im waiting on are my seeds. Now I've been reading and reading and I decided to go with Sunshine advanced mix#4 but I want to cut it with something. Iwas thinking about cutting it with Black Kow. Its NPK says
.5-.5-.5 so I was thinking it would be good because it wont add alot of unnecessary ferts because I want to add ferts as i see fit ( which is why I went with SSAM#4 to begin with) So do guys this Black Kow will be a good cut or should I go with something else?
 
not sure, but you can get thier #1 instead of #4. This has the lime added and you just need to add the perlite, etc.
 
#4 has lime & perlite, what I use :)

I add a bit more dolomite to it cause I make it rain and calcined clay (hydroton) at a 50/50% mix

calcined clay adds sulfer the same way dolomite adds mag (slow release) and this mix pretty much kills any potential ph problems :)
 
Well fuck it I guess Im just gonna mix it up anyways... Im going two parts sunshine 1 part black kow. Well see what happens

Yes, you are going to have to mix.

30% BK might be a bit much, but doing mixes is mostly trial and error anyway.

Do add some more lime even if it has some in there. Perlite also, especially with the BK. Keep it from getting too heavy.

Naw Im just gonna go 5 parts sunshine to 1 part BK and not add anything... I'll have just enough that way.... Ooh its so much fun posting to myself:clap:
 
I've been using #4 from clone to harvest. it has all the nutes you need for at least 2 weeks. i'm 100% success rate for cloning. this is no bull. i've cloned NL, hashplant, watermelon, denefim (sp). pot of gold, bc god and something pernounced sir-eddy, not sure of exact spelling. maybe someone can help me with that.

I bought a bale of Sunshine #4 that I've been using since germination, no mixing with anything else and it has been phenomenal! no mix, no muss, no fuss, stop over thinking this guys, just grow & smoke! :wall:

I love this dirt & so do my plants...
 
Yea i hear ya and i wouldn't mix it either except i don't have enough to fill all my pots and since this is my first grow ive already dropped to much money and don't want to spend anymore until i see some results so i was just trying to strech what ive got
 
oh, i can understand that. I looked on my receipt after I went shopping the day I got mine and discovered the guy didn't charge me for it, so I got free dirt! :clap:
 
Sunshine Mix #4 was the only mix I ever used. I simply added supplementals like lime, bone meal, worm castings, guano. Worked brilliantly for years till I switched to hydro.
