ya i knew you would respond, i was going to add/edit i suppose it all goes where you live though

you wouldnt get away with that in alaska, its pretty much cloudy 6 out 7 days a week plus rain.
and i wouldnt have gotten away with that in my last apartment as i had limited windows.
true that region makes a difference, but I do live in Vancouver which is technically a semi-rain forest (except this year)

I'm becoming a big fan of the CFL/Sunshine tag-team approach, give them sunshine when available, then CFL and/or LED bulbs after sunset or on stormy cloudy days

I was kinda wondering the same thing-Im on disability and dont have the kind of cash I would LOVE TO for this so I have to go with CFL as well.............last time it was strictly outside from start to almost finished and is lookin GOOD
SUN is the best light you can get IMO
Dude, look in the local buy and sell website. Pick up a used hps for next to nothing. I got three 400w for $60

Search "Used High Bay Shop Lights". Nearly always 400-watt with a bulb.Sometimes MH and sometimes HPS. Heavier than hell.Separate the ballast and the reflector and then wire with a minimum 12/3 cable wired properly. I bought 2 in Alaska and left the new cable long enough I stuck the hot ballasts outside. The enclosures are weatherproof until you separate the two parts. Simply make a cover for the opening where the reflector is removed and seal it with silicone. Keeps the grow area a lot cooler.

Here are my plants on the 16th day. They are doing great, I will start feeding this weekend. The small one is fkked up, I litterally broke the entire taproot off the seedling, its really behind but it's starting to grow.
I will be ordering a 300w mars hydro led. I don't have money for a good led, but they are one of the better generic led brands. So next week it will be CFL, LEDs and sunlight.

stop with your lumens talk, and your equivalent silliness....

Get some real light, or stop wasting good seeds....

That reading lamp next to your bed is NOT the sun, and does a piss poor job of emulating one.... get 125w (actual, not equiv) to veg, and 250w to flower....

Can't grow a green bean plant with a flash light, dont try to grow a cannabis plant with a reading lamp...

(and green crack is naturally saller/popcorn style buds, so make sure you train/scrog the fuck out of her, or you will do all this for 7g of weed)

Don buy shitty lights when you cant afford good lights....

Save money until you can afford good lights... keep it in veg as long as needed to do so... u can veg under CFLs easy, just use a fuck ton of light... (Or one real grow light, meant for growing plants, not 23w bulbs meant for lighting grandmas mantle)

ESPECIALLY if u r gonna go LED, you don't want cheapy shit...

All light is not equal... either get a HPS if u can keep it cool and want good weed, or save for a GOOD led (or build one!) or you are throwing the money away...

Lights and fans.. always buy quality. Everything else is free game.... lights and fans, buy quality...

$140 for a 600W HID setup is pretty cheap. low_baller on ebay or Amazon, yo. I know how hard $140 can be to find, but I just wanted you to know the price for lights doesn't have to be extravagant.

OP: since it wasn't stated, if this is for personal use, cfls and sun to start is fine. Lights are only part of the process of harvesting good, quality medicine. Learn your strains, when and how much to feed, handling pests, mold, deficiencies, and other problems such as ph, and how to keep your growing environment dialed in. Mastering these things is my goal before next year when I convert an area to my official grow room and invest in professional equipment. Good luck.

Yeah, and if you have at least a decent light, it makes it so much easier to deal with all the other things that go with the territory.

I am also I'm the camp of not buying shitty cheap lights, stick to cfl's for early learning, I taped together a little foam box, it holds 6 23w cfl's, it veg's great, though I've never flowered in it. I got a hole in the top and a couple cpu fans jammed in the side, it literally took a half hour to tape up, and again, works great. I occasionally put cuttings in it when I'm testing shit out, when I do I turn off the fans and use 2 or 3 bulbs keeps out nice and warm, man, it is fuckin handy

Yeah that's how I keep clones running or to start seeds. Lmao, not good for getting good quality stash.

I stopped talking lumens like 2 weeks ago. the bulbs I have now are 3 26w bulbs, they will do just fine for a couple small plants with an added 4-6 hours sunlight almost everyday.
I will be flowering them under the led. Wich is 140w acctual, along with 4 26w 2700k cfl's. Mars hydro led lights are great for small grows. There's a whole thread for Mars hydro led grows go check it out. And considering my bro was going to throw these seeds out, it's not really a waste.

I vegged 9 plants under CFLs and they're now flowering under 1000 watter, I wanted good quality medicine for all my time and money spent. Next run will be approximately 2 weeks CFL seedling stage, 6-8 weeks 400 or 600 MH, depends on were I setup my veg, to see the growth difference as I've been keeping a written, photo, and video log of this run. Seems all the videos I've seen with MH in veg are noticeably bigger than mine and others under CFLs in veg.

i would like to through out there if you use an cfl clone led for veg and hps for flower i found is the best for kw/h per gram for all stages

Yes this is for personal use. And I will be flowering under a completely diff setup. I knew I would get away with vegging under these 26w, but not for flower. Thank you for the one helpful response. I would give you a like but is seems I cant

I run a flood table with 144, 5.5" pots under a 1000w on a mover, to keep it going I use t5's for cloning, and moms, but I don't veg those, straight from rooted clone to 12/12. My foam box (picture will not upload right now) is just for experiments, fun, and currently it's saving a strain I almost lost!

Haha, that's true, and YouTube has proof of the results of inadequate lighting at harvest time. I was so scared after watching them, I immediately started shopping around for better lighting. I never wanna raise a lady with more legs showing than skin(bud). One small/medium nug every 10"-12" is not worth my time.

A small bud every 10-12in? I have done some good research on Mars hydro leds. I mean....go watch the videos on YouTube and check out the Mars hydro grow thread. They are the best cheap leds. The one I'm ordering has 8 bands led and consumes 140w.
I can't run a system like yours and I have a 300$ budget, so I have to make due with what I have.

I hate how every time I post something about my grow/plans I get shot down not answered. I'm fkkin noob and I'm doing my best.
I will show you goons that my half thought plans will get me a nice yield of some dank shit. Not like anyone cares, but I think I'm just going to wait until I get a harvest before posting shit on rollitup.
