Suggestions for build it yourself carbon filters

i have seen the thread of the build it yourself odor eliminator.. but i wanted to get a idea passed n c if u guys think that puttting a nice little 110 CFM fan on the end of the homemade carbon screen so it draws in from the carbon filter and then exits where the fan blows it out.. instead of installin it on ur outake air vent for the air to be pushed out of it... . most carbon filters work that way suck in through the filter and blow out through the fan,only thing is Im not sure if 110 cfm is strong enough to be real effective
