Im having to fight bugs while the soil is baking outside. Im assuming this has been a problem for many people. Have any suggestions on keeping flys and other stuff away besides yellow stickies.( they fill up in an hour it seems haha). I really dont wanna bring all those insects into my indoor grow am I just over worrying. It would seem that it might be a problem later.

Covering the top with a lid has cause cobweb mold. and the flys still get through.

also clarify when the gallon of water come into play. I read your article and also watched the video you just moved the soil around for a week then put it in your cans then add water and leave for 30 days yes? k thanks

While I am not subcool, obviously, I'd suggest getting some bugs to fight the other bugs. Namely Hypoaspis/predatory mites, they are very small tan colored mites that dwell in soil and eat the larval/pupal stages of various pest insects.

Then there are beneficial nematodes, those are more like microscopic worms that are commercially available (they come on a sponge) and they parasitize hundreds of different species of soil dwelling insects.

Lady bugs worked pretty well me. Gathered up all the dead lady bugs put it on top of the soil of one my plants and named the plant the Fourth Reich...

That furry stuff is soil webbing, not mold and a good indication of thriving micro-life. Sub has stated before that he uses a trash can with the lid on. Do you just have flys or fungas gnats?

Flys as of right now. They have only been in the cans for three days. I've never heard of soil webbing. I used to grow shrooms and it looks like cobweb mold to me. But I guess you know more than I do about organics
