Thanks for the quick reply guys!! :D

N yeah, basically thats similar to the situation ive put myself in right now.

Im planning to move out of the cramped space im stuck in right now, and finally into a proper house of my own, complete with basement, extra bedroom, the works, lol. But my problem is, i wanted to do this same grow that im doing right now again, and im stuck with only one feminized seed of each strain im growing out right now, which basically means that reguardless of the pheno i get, im stuck with it unless i wanna shell out more money for the same damn strain. Im growing out 2 bluecheese, 2 twilight, 1 northern soul, 1 whiteberry, 2 seedsman WW, and am doing a 20 oz cup experiment with a G13 labs power skunk seed and a Barneys Farm Red Diesel seed. I have 4 more RD's, and god knows how many G13 skunk freebies left (thank you attitude, lol), n i DO have other good strains i wanna grow out aswell, but its all feminized seeds, and i bought them hastily, not thinking about making more seeds, or natural selection, or anything along those lines, giving me the best phenos of the strain so i can clone out, and continue to keep growing at my own discrection, the mothers that ill be keeping for years if possible. I just flat out dont have the cash to go back and pick up all these premium strains again in regular seed form man, n now im kinda bummed, because i thought i was getting BETTER seeds than the regular batches BECAUSE they were feminized.

It really sucks, but i guess ive made my bed, n now i gotta lie in it for now. Ill probably save up some cash soon enough, n pick up somethin completely different, like Snow Queen, or Agent Orange from you guys over at TGA man. Thanks for the info seriously, youve defnitely made a believer outta me, thats for sure. I thought i was thinking out the future of my new growroom pretty well, when it turns out i wasnt thinking about the most important thing of all -- the actual pot im gonna be growing, lol. Its cool though i suppose, rookie mistake n all. I signed up over at breedbay the other day, but i havent gotten a return email activating my account yet. So as soon as im activated im gonna head over there n see what you guys have, n start savin i guess :D

thanks again,

-K1.

here's what I mean by soma's 'five pheno discount'...lavender g13/hz. the only other plant is the tetra afghanica just to the right of jaan. the purple one on the left shows the most sativa...in the next photo...that's the tetra in lime green. the black is spice, the white is fruit, and the mottled are gushing hawaiian tropical fruit- ultimate YUM! sorry..no closeups...the g13 really shows up in this as a thick fuzz. the haze only showed in the other purple one. otherwise it's the usual soma alphabet soup...absolutely gorgeus supermodel weed.

Seedsman is a business man not a breeder and while hes a nice guy his work is outsourced to someone.
While Barney has won many cups they do so by selling you fem seeds and using the profits to buy 12 full page ads in High Times, Thats how you win a cup btw or its a damn good start :)

These peopels goal IMO is profit. They don't support the medical community and charge outragious amounts for seeds IMO.
You can make this a business without profit as your main goal and quality goes up fast. Take care of people release proven gear that does whats claimed and the profit is a side effect.

Sorry for the rant but these are the people that have caused this.

I will tell you how firm I am on this. Recently Marco added fem seeds to his medical lineup and we won't deal with his company any longer. When I saw fem seeds and Arjan making coin under the cover of medical I turned and walked away.
I spoke to him and others about this and there excuse is that there are lots of lazy growers not willing to do it correctly and there simply filling a need.

Thats not breeding or conserving the drug traits in the Cannabis gene pool.

I totally agree Sub and I'm into breeding to make better cannbis available to the medical community. Seeds are too pricey these days except for folks like you and Mizz Jill who I hope to work on a project with someday for the ultimate purple strain....
Thanks for being such a cool dude in the growing community:weed:

And dont forget places like c9 with all their rants about selective cubing and self pollination.its all b.s. they are selling you unstable f2 hybrids.I tried to call them out on another forum and they had me banned.I guess no one wants the truth. So more kudos to sub for at least having a little integrity

I see plant genetics like people, or better, corn snakes(easier to explain)...you have exceptional individuals from every family...some families tend to be better(in certain departments)than others. like corn snake genealogy, individuals can be 'het'(heterozygous) for traits they don't display, but carry from their ancestors as latent(so called "junk"dna) information...this info will invariably show up in later generations. it really comes down to finding that one stellar goddess for cloning and further genetic madness...especially in this ridiculous melting pot we call california!

Now, I've skimmed through these posts and noticed the references to feminized seeds. IMO it's just a passing fad.
.
I prefer Subcool's method of breeding. These "Seeds for Dough" companies are just taking shortcuts to make a quick buck.

Sub's methods takes allot more effort and time. I call that Craftmanship.
.
I recently started (4) Jillybean seeds. I'm growing two in organic soil, my bud is doing two in hydro. All four, have turned out to be female. Now, I've never had that happen - in the thirty years I've grown.
.
Another interesting fact, the two I'm growing stayed identical for the first few weeks, then one grew just a few inches taller than the other. Both are under 1.5 feet and filling out nicely. I just got through talking to my bud, his two have done the exact same thing.
.
We are both impressed with the very uniform growth habit and the fact we got four females from just four seeds. Now that's quality and there are not shortcuts to that kind of quality. It just comes from hard work and proper selection.
.
So, I have much Respect for Sub's work - lot's of long hours & no shortcuts.....
.
Quality over Quickness.....

Hey, another herp fan. :)
^^^ Member of the hinged fang club, courtesy Mojave green rattler. It was awfully pretty, I still remember it.

In any event, I've been trying to get myself up to speed, in terms of what it is to 'breed' Cannabis sativa and what it is to simply make seeds, gene-pool issues, etcetera, and have finally had a basic genetics book recommended to me, I'm going to check it out. The whole thing is just SO much more complicated than whether an organism is heterozygous or homozygous, and while epigenetics is still fairly new, it's even newer with regard to plants, and may be non-existent in Cannabis research. And that's not even the beginning.

I thought breeding horses or fish was fraught, but growing plants to make decent progeny? Oy! I'm not even concerned with something as ambitious as creating a strain, all I've wanted to do is keep myself in decent, healthy seeds. It's nowhere nearly so simple. The fish were so incredibly EASY. Just throw 'em in a tank, give them good conditions and let them do their thing. (Raising fry of some species is another thing altogether.)

The whole point of this rambling is that I am beginning to get a true(r) picture of what's involved when a breeder creates a strain. It has opened up a whole new world of respect for those who create successful, healthy strains that perform consistently.

Subcool... You are quite welcome. I wished I would have known about your genetics years ago.
.
I can't wait to try out the Jillybean. I smoked some of your " The Flav" recently - Super Nice Strain. It put a smile on my face and had me looking at the world through new eyes for the whole afternoon.
.
So, needless to say, I got online and bought some. Seldom does a strain make such an impression on me in only one session.
.
Thank You for the great strains.
.
Keep up the Great Work.....

i think most every seedbank is overpricing beans. gypsy has the most reasonably priced beans that i've seen anywhere.
Gypsy has a decent rep with a few customers but over all his reputation is horrible. He has ripped off so many breeders including Bog and Reeferman and Gypsy cares little for the outcome of what he ships.
He was openly shipping Bog genetics even though they were hastily produced f2's and it actually is the main cause we don't get to speak to Bog these days.

I generally dont comment but this is my forum and I cant allow in correct info here. I would not recommend you let Gypsy has any of your personal info or trust your genetics to him.

humm, i wasn't aware of that, thanks. that's a shame. i don't care for high bean prices, but i don't think anyone should be ripping off anyone, even breeders.

Silky that is why at our auctions we have many packs starting at 40 and 50 and even 5 packs at 25 and sometimes less for those on a budget.
While auctions can be somewhat of a hassle the gear you get for the cost and the added bonus of Breedbays super stealth packing makes it a win win.

Sub , so your saying gypsy will send you different genetics than what you order and tell you they are?
Yes he did so with Bog and simply made some knocks offs when Bogs original stock ran out. I worked and lived with the cat for a good while and I have never met a person with less scruples and willing to do what ever to make as much as possible.
