Su^'s led test

Welcome fellow growers to my eBay led grow light test. I'm here for a 60 day experiment on a inexpensive 800w led cob grow light. Supposedly this light is full spectrum so we will see. Looks almost blood red, I will be pulling my 1000w out in a few days to make sure the test isn't compromised.

Why I bought two lights.

I bought the two lights for the use of the cases to replace the cobs with authentic cobs of my choice for my diy lights. In the meantime I will run the two panels for one entire cycle to see what difference is had before I replace them with tested cobs. I currently and previously have grown with mh/hps or DE lamps so I know what I'm looking for in end production. I'm my past experience with the heavy blurple led lights the plants do have great Internodal spacing but they always seem to be heavy in nitrogen so I always have just used them strictly in veg.

The strain that will be grown is AfghanI blueberry x the ox.

Now that you have a better understanding of my intentions sit down grab some popcorn and watch the show.

Nice, looking forward to seeing how your results compare. Curious if you know the wattage being drawn from the wall? Ebay lights typically exaggerate their wattage.

Completely agree with you on that, the light is rated for 800w and is only pulling 288w at the wall. The light is supposedly 4x200w cobs. I'll take a picture later tonight with it plugged in at the wall for the experiments sake. It never listed true wattage like you stated above but I'm curious if the 288w that it is pulling is enough.

Sorry to take your thread of topic but it is dealing with shady Chinese lights and Rahz is here so maybe he has some insight. With high frequency digital ballasts FCC compliance is a hot topic at the moment. Do these China specials have any issues with RF/EMI? I know iphone cam goes all whack with bars in the image under chinese led.
What about Cob/meanwell combo?

Meanwell drivers, at least the HLGs that most people use do have EMC ratings. I have no idea whether Chinese lamps generally conform to any IEC standards regarding EMI, but it's the kind of information they should be glad to give out if they've taken measures to reduce it. Beyond component standards, short wire runs and proper grounding is helpful. EMI filters can be built into a design at a small percentage of overall cost so it's worth considering from a DIY perspective.

End of week 1 flowering. Starting to really stretch out.

The fake cobs seem to be holding its own. Although I'm running 50w per square foot of the cobs they aren't doing too bad.

One thing I'm shocked about is the panel puts out zero heat compared to any other leds I've used.

Yeah ill most likely only flower with my mh/hps combos. The leds with be suitable for veg though but you never know. Like you said, the plant seems to like the light though.

First week I ran the Temps at 82* to help uptake of food. For the next 7 weeks I'll be running the girls at 72* to minimize stress.

The girl next to her is some of the glass slipper f2s I'm breeding. LA confidential x c99
