Styrafoam cups instead of Solo cups for babies?

I use Solo plastic cups to transfer small rockwool into Solo cups with Tupur. I cut little diagonal slices toward the bottom of the cup.

I am not trying to be cheap but sometimes I have styrafoam cups from a fast food place that I could cut down in 2 seconds to reuse. Is this an okay idea. Solo cups are solid red or blue while strayfoam is white. Maybe a dumb thread but thought I would ask.

I started a tomato plant in a little styrofoam cup and it grew just like the other random plastic containers.

solo's were designed for drunks at keggers so they don't tip over as easy as foam.

Good point ...but foams work just fine except for tipping

You can use just about any container as long as you put some drainage holes in it.

I used styrofoam ,the plants roots would grip and try to grow into the cups so thats my reason for saying DONT USE styrofoam.Eh, to each they're own though.If they work well for ya's then by all means

Don't even need drainage holes if its just soil, put an inch or two of gravel/ marbles/hydroton at the bottom. I almost never put drainage in my pots anymore, no issues, just need to keep track of how much water you give it.

I used styrofoam for years on my veggies and they are a little harder to remove the plants from because the roots try to grow into the styrofoam.

I have used paper coffee cups and was not impressed..... I have used solo cups with no issues...but never tried styrofoam

@WeedFreak78 I also put some coarse perlite in the bottom. My drainage hole is up about 3/4" from the bottom so it acts like a hempy bucket. Leaves some water in the bottom of the cup fro roots to sip on between watering's.

Dixie cups with lava rocks and perlite at bottom. :-P
