Here are the specs:

Happy frog soil grow, 15 gal container
450w led light, currently 24” above plants
Random seed, no clue what it is.
Indoor grow

Germinated two seeds. Both popped open and planted just fine. They sprouted up and after a few weeks had to be transplanted as I saw roots in the bottom of my little pot they were in.

Post transplant. One is thriving. I watered both just once directly after transplant and soil has stayed fairly moist. It’s just starting to get dry this morning. (Two days ago I watered them)

The pics below are the one I’m worried about. Since transplant, no growth has happened at. Newest leaves at top are curled and underdeveloped. The cotyledon has now started to show brown on its under side. Plants are exactly 21 days old today.

The two “larger leaves” are dark green and seem a little “swollen”.

Any idea why the stunted growth? Any solutions?

Grow So High

What size container did they outgrow that quick? They look fine but transplanting them that early is not a good idea. Seedlings are fragile. I would just give it time

It outgrew a very small starter pot. Looking back, I definitely could have left it in a couple more days, but I did see a root poking out the bottom hole just a little bit. Even though there hasn’t been growth, it still looks healthy which is weird. I’ll post more pics in the coming days. Thanks for the swift reply, I’ve been freaking out over a bit haha. Any suggestions are welcome! Only grown about 5 times. All indoor soil.

It is pretty normal to see roots out the bottom of the pot within a couple days. Doesnt hurt the plant or mean its time to repot. They are just looking for water.

Its fine.

15gal transplant from seedling is a BIG change...i went to 7gal last run and it was a challenge to keep watering correct

Be patient. 15gal will let you run through flower without transplant, the payment for that convenience is slower growth at the start. Dont overwater. Only water around the seedling in a circle to start, slowly expanding that circle to match the leaf width and going a little deeper each time. For example, I would be watering about 2 to 4 ounces per watering at that size.

Cotyledons dont matter as long as they dont rot. Focus on the new growth...green and vibrant. Humidity high for now, temps high 70s (my opinion), fan with very gentle breeze gently rustling the leaves.

It should be a few weeks until you are
watering the entire 15 gallons. You really need a careful watering strategy for now. It can be done very easily...trust that it only needs water around the seedling.

If you need a reference to know when to water....water a spot far away from your plant identically to how you water the plant. You can then look at your empty watered space to help determine when to water again.

Key is...for now the water will evaporate away mostly. As the root system grows, it will use more water faster and evaporation will take 2nd place behind the plants uptake of it through the roots.

You grow yourself a beast in that 15gal you could be watering the whole thing every 2 days in flower!

The slower one is more sensitive to the amount of water you gave it, nothing more or less imo.

Good luck.

Wow! Thank you to all that replied! Read them all! Very good insight on watering strategy and will definitely implement it now, and for future grows! I’ll send pics as soon as things turn around!

Thanks again!!!

Just so you can see the one other plant I’m growing right now, see the attached pic.

Not going to water either for at least another day. Soil is still fairly moist when I put my index finger in. But it definitely was much more dry this morning. Will give updates soon.

Here is today’s update for my now 3 plants. 1 plant is doing great (1st pic). The plant I was worried about has finnnnally begun to turn around and slowly grow some new leaves and starting a new node (2nd pic). The third plant was being mis handled by a friend so I adopted her(hopefully lol), but that’s the 3rd pic.

Comfort creator, thanks for the watering tips. All plants are doing much much better!

Hopefully the 1st pic plant will show sex soon! I don’t see any sacs forming yet so I’m hopeful to see that white hair pop out soon!!

I usually top at 5th node some people do 4th so personally I would wait
So basically, not knowing the sex of the plant shouldn’t stop me from topping directly above the 5th node? The 5th one is popping out right now on the one from pic 1! I might be able to top early next week
