good luck!

i personally think (and I'm a total newb' by the way) that a total of 400 watts HPS is a little excessive for two plants; especially in terms of heat build-up in the grow space (unless you've got a good ventilation system for it).

How close/far are the lights by the way?

They look as if they are stretchin a bit for light, 400watts of hps is plenty of light, but is it the right kind of light? Metal Halide lights seem to do the trick duing the veg cycle, may want to give one of them a try? Good Luck mate!

I dont know if your using a fan on your plants but if you arent then you might want to consider it to help their stalks grow thicker. Good luck!

looking good, nice little set up

I'd remove the glass/plastic lamp on your HPS, you're loosing lumens that way

Also, go get you some 65k (daylight) CFLs.. not 'soft white.' I really didn't think it was a big deal at all in my grow... but I was growing forever and nplants werent making much progress, once I got the daylight CFLs, BOOM. Growth explosion!! Check it out around here on my journal. Once I got those CFLs with more blue light in them, the plants loved, it I noticed a difference that very same day...

you'll be doing yourself a favor, I'd hate for that sweet sweet cough to grow slowww...

Yeah. Walmart, lowes, etc. They'll say 'daylight' or 65k or both... At walmart they're in blue packages.

Don't get "soft white" these work more for floweri g. Not that you need them then... Your HPSs are great for that.

The daylights put out more blue light like the MH.. Which the plants love for veg, it's like the spring sun. The soft white and HPS are more orange which is like the fall sun

yeah i got u..how many cfls do u think i need on them..and should i just take the hps out for right now and use the cfls for the veg..befor i started growin i was reading a lot of thing on this website..and people were talkin about using cfls for veg..but would it really take a long time if i just stuck with the hps..?

hit me back

you can keep the HPS going and just add some CFLs... I'd say about 2 or 3 per plant (23 'true' watt or so). Thats what I did... I kept the HPS for all the lumens it put out, then added the CFLs for the blue light
