Strains for first grow?

Hey everyone!

I'll be starting my first grow this summer under 3 400w HPS lights indoors. I was wondering which strains I should grow, if you guys had any experience with the strains that I'm looking at and if they would grow well under the same lights. Or should I just grow from bagseed?

I'm looking at Nirvana B52 and Master Kush. Has anyone grown these before? How long do they take to mature? Hows the smoke?

Thanks,
Sleepless

I'd say go for bag seed to get some experience under your belt before you spend the $$$ on seeds. Does Nirvana still sell B52?

Myself I am more of a believer if buying low priced seeds for a first run. They will be a higher quality of genetics and there is less of a chance of problems due to seeds that were not fully mature due to the bud they came from being grown to be smoked and not for seed production.

For example for $19.54 (plus shipping) you can purchase K.C. Brains Mango. (from Attitude Seeds) It took third place in the 2003 Indica Cup at the 2003 Cannabis Cup Awards. Spending $19.54 (plus shipping) for a pack of 10 regular beans that genetically were good enough to take third place in the Indica Cup is not much of an expense or risk and for what it would give it would be a better way to go than to use totally unknown genetics of bagseed.

As for Nirvana’s B52. Well it can still be found at some smaller no name headshops/seedbanks like http://www.hipersemillas.com/uk/ or at least it is advertised as being for sale. I don't know if they sell worldwide or not but there are a couple others listed as offering B52 so possibly one or some do sell worldwide.

I agree with Brick Top, get some KC Brains.

Attitude has a whole section of inexpensive seeds and there are a lot of choices.

The question to be asked about your advice would be whose White Widow?

There are 24 versions of White Widow plus the original that is called Black Widow. Some of them are indica predominant and some are sativa predominant and flowering times can vary a good bit as can nutrient needs because of that.

I agree that a good White Widow would be a good choice but the main problem with White Widow is people only call it by name and then many people say this is what you need to do, this is what works. But due to there being so many genetically different White Widows sold advice given by people can be less than perfect since they may very well have grown a different White Widow that had different needs and flowering time.

Nirvana doesn't sell B52 on their website but Attitude has it, and it's real cheap. $28 for ten seeds I think.

Something that would be really valuable for this particular situation is a plant that matures wicked fast, I've only got about 2 months of grow time this summer. But I can control that with dark periods right?

Good choice going with a K.C. Brains strain. Using professional genetics, even inexpensive ones, is a better way to go than bagseed unless you personally know the grower and know you can trust them to tell you what their seeds are and that they are quality genetics and that you know they are mature viable beans.

Yeah diffinately BUY some beans off someone reputable.

If your bag of weed has seeds in it, it means the female plant it came from was probably Hermied........

which means there's a good chance the seed will be prone to Hermie as well.

I've never had any problems with Cheapo Nirvana seeds though.
