Storing Shrooms?

Last weekend I went picking mushrooms and put them in a plastic bag. The shrooms have been kept in the bag since last Saturday and over the last few days they have started getting really damp and black. Where would be the best place to store shrooms to stop this from happening? Yesterday I wrapped them in a few pieces of paper to hopefully dry them out a bit but they are worse today.

I've always kept them in the fridge to keep fresh, then eaten straight out of the fridge.....within a few days of course:peace:

don't ever store fresh mushrooms in a plastic bag because they will start to mold and rot. that's probably why they are turning black

Off on a tangent but, still on topic.....:blsmoke:
I had left about £50 worth of m'srooms out of the £120 that I bought in the fridge but, didn't tell my folks what they were, came back from a weekend of....(I shit you not!) smoking approx 40 :joint:'s, well that's what I pre-rolled up before I went, and eating the rest of the £70 worth.....not on my own but with a mate...(that would have been toooo much!!). Anyway, came back home from a great weekend  and found out that my folks and found the £50 worth and thought they were normal m'srooms and thought..."hey, they're mouldy, lets throw them out):shock:......groannnnnn, shit my loss, should have put them in a plastic container and sealed it!

allways dry your pickings. They rot if you dont. Once they are cracker dry thay can be stored for months in an airtight container.

What kind were you picking? Are you sure you are picking the correct mushroom?

Yeah I'm sure their the right ones, I've been picking the same ones for the last few years and wouldn't pick anything I have any doubts about. They're "Liberty Caps" and grow wild in Ireland and England. The ones that I kept in the plastic bag I had to throw out, there was no saving them. I had some more in an envelope and they seem to be doing o.k. What's the best way to dry them?
